@ no, Hank Shocklee & Chuck D aka Carl Ryder were the Bomb Squad that produced this album, and Eric Vietnam Sadler was assistant producer. Rick Rubin was executive producer and Bill Stephaney was production supervisor. When Chuck agreed he demanded to bring the whole crew. The song Public Enemy #1 was a song they already had when they were on the radio. And was the song Rick Rubin heard that got him interested.

Right Bro. The Bomb Squad all the way on' It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back'. Rick Rubin was more Beastie Boys and Run DMC, and later Jay-Z on 99 Problems. No diss to Rick Rubin, but PE wasn't part of his impact. Give the Bomb Squad their due. Ice Cube came East to get their production for 'Ameikkkaz Most Wanted', a super project in hip hop history. Larry Smith invented the Rock & Rap hybrid. He played the guitar on Kurtis Blows Christmas Rappin’. If you want to get technical Rappers Delight was released 2 months prior, but they were just rhyming over Good Times by Chic. He was a real musician & didn’t have to rely on sampling. The Rock Band Queen have been accused for stealing Larry’s bass line for “Another one bites the dust. He produced Run-DMC, Fat Boys, Whodini Albums. He went to school with Russell’s older brother long before Rick Rubin & Def Jam. Rick took a formula he already created.
