a bit late to comment, but I’m going public gearing soon and I need a list of tips/things to do! here’s what I already have: - a tail + a mask for privacy. - if someone calls me a furry I either say I don’t identify as a furry or I ignore them and walk away. - if someone harasses me I’ll go and tell a member of staff or my parents. - if I lose a part of my gear I’ll get my friends and me to look for it, if we can’t find it tell a member of staff or ask other children if they have saw it. - wear appropriate clothing for quads and generally doing things (e.g. baggy clothes that cover you up etc). - be as calm as possible (luckily I’m going to be one of the oldest there). - be sensible with my choices. - tell my friends if someone is having a go at me. - tell my friends to follow me or I’ll follow them everywhere as I don’t want to get lost. - if I feel unsafe I will tell a member of staff, my parents or a parent that looks kind and willing to help. - if my tail gets pulled I will ask them politely to stop, if they do it again I’ll do the same, if they do it once more I’ll tell a trusted adult, that being a member of staff or my parents. - I will prepare my gear for ANYTHING that may happen (e.g. make my tail pull proof, fix up my mask etc) - if someone asks me what I am I’ll say I’m a human and take off my mask if they seem kind about it. - if someone cries because of me or gets scared because of me I will try to calm them down and take off my gear to show them I’m not scary. - make sure I know where my parents are/my friends parents are/ staff members are in case anything happens if I need anything else, please reply! 🫶🌿🐾🍃
