Public Humanities: Moisés Hassan Bendahan on “Empowerment Through Reading and Visual Storytelling”

A Zoom Public Humanities Fellowship lecture by Moisés Hassan Bendahan/PhD candidate in Hispanic Languages and Literature, “Empowerment Through Reading and Visual Storytelling”.
Comics have been linked to childhood since the creation of the medium. This talk presents how to re-approach the middle grade students through reading and creating comics. Using comics and graphic novels that address issues of social justice and self-acceptance to provide students examples on the power of visual narrative in comics to express a personal experience, and they will be encouraged to tell one of their own.
