In the third part of this video series, I talk about hunting strategies for individually tackling areas which are large, well known, and have a ton of hunting pressure during the gun deer seasons. Much of my marsh and swamp hunting strategy has been derived and morphed from information on the Hunting Beast: thehuntingbeast.com

This was super helpful. I like how you apply the concept to many different habitat types with specific examples.

You always explain tactics so clearly. You did a good job. A seasoned hunter can learn alot from you. Thank you for uploading.

Wanted to say thanks for the idea to use a quick link on my tether. I have been able to use that in climbing SRS. Being able to switch from my main line to a secondary line and go around limbs makes the climb easier. It also means I don't have to hit my final tie in point from the ground. So I can spend less time throwing from the ground and get in the tree faster. I will switch to a rappel ring when I make my final tie in point. Much easier to retrieve my line with a rappel ring installed over the quick link.

This is great, thank you for taking the time to explain how you do this. It will help me look at my local public in a whole different way. One question. There local public, access roads are on the east, with a river on the west. How would you approach or find those hard to get to spot or low spots the deer would go to? Thank you for the help and keep up the great work.

Without knowing the size or how difficult it is to walk, one area that would stand out would be any cover along the river. Accessing from the river via kayak or boat would allow you to set up on that side while letting pressure from the road push deer your way.

Would this work for muzzleloader season I’ve noticed after 3 days of gun season being open deer movement is dead unless you do drives and in Wisconsin muzzleloader being right after gun movement is minimal if not nocturnal it’s getting harder with less people hunting to get deer moving any ideas?

You've got to be where they're going to move during daylight. You're exactly right that muzzleloader is hard because they're still reacting to the pressure but not getting pushed around as much anymore. So finding those small little bedding pockets is really key for pressured areas, and accessing in a way where you're able to get close enough without spooking them, or getting tucked in really early before light. But there always still a risk you spook some in the dark.
