This would be amazing for a single small detail, but isnt practical for any large scale due to the triangle count for only 1x1 stud of detail
@Lift_r06 күн бұрын
Unfortunately true, but I'll probably make bigger versions in the future.
@flaeime4 күн бұрын
you could say that, but actually from looking at it it doesnt look too bad in terms of triangles for most games, and especially considering roblox’s new not-visible-doesnt-render system thing, it’ll probably be fine.
@VoidCode4 күн бұрын
@flaeime Yeah, it should be fine as long as it has collision off, or has the collision fidelity set to box

A very creative way to utilize meshes, I've never really seen anyone else try this to recreate a similar effect. Although I think there could be some concerns regarding performance, but its still a really cool effect to see on Roblox! Great job man 🍷

@Lift_r0 do you mind going into detail on how you optimized them when you make that video? it would be much appreciated as someone who "over-optimizes" everything (although there is no such thing as over-optimization)

Its good for showcases, on a normal public game this woudlnt really work because 1. its unperformant. 2. the player can play on low settings which disables glass refraction and makes the effect not work anymore while still slowing down the game due to polygon counts. What we need is to get Roblox to add an actual Shader render pipline, or ATLEAST ability for refraction/emission maps, it could be included within the SurfaceApperance Instance.
@texti-animates-sometimes4 күн бұрын
right roblox NEEDS custom shader support 😭
@CavaliersCreations4 күн бұрын
also on mobile glass refraction is completely disabled
@artex_1124 күн бұрын
@CavaliersCreations Exactly, i personally dont like using the glass material, Any other material with transparency on is way better. It shows all kinds of beams decals and particles through and is more customizable, you just got to be creative.

yep, someone in the future can always make their own which is better. I hope so at least.

@ValentinoAfton2 күн бұрын
this works bc glass bends lights in a weird way depending on where u look at it, and by adding rough meshes you make it bend in many different ways at the same point of view, making it kinda patterned.
@ValentinoAfton2 күн бұрын
they're way too rough/too many variations, which may cause lag. Also set the collision fidelity to Box or something to avoid calculating EVERY SINGLE SHAPE
