Note to seniors, the subways and buses are free. I traveled to Budapest in May 2018 and was happy to learn this. I'm American, from Pennsylvania and age 67. We stayed at the Paulay Downtown Apartments across the street and a short walk from the pool shown in this video (at about the 7:15 mark) for 45 Euros which jumped up to 90 Euros one day later. Don't know why. It was a not fancy but was clean and quiet. We found another place in walking distance called Gozsdu Court Aparthotel for 52 Euros that was a beautiful apartment with separate bedroom, full kitchen, small living room with a couch/bed convertible and lots of windows. The drawback was a very lively open area in the courtyard below our 3rd floor place that boomed music until 1am. I slept ok anyway. The air was cool and dry (didn't seem to be any humidity or mosquitos or other bugs) and I slept with the windows wide open. When we went home we easily walked to the airport bus stop that is shown very nicely at the end of this video at about the 9 minute mark. The bus took us right into the airport in about 30 minutes.

Also note passes are valid for perennial trains (green) and the normal trains up to the first stop outside Bp. If you go any further (like daytrip to Szentendre or Gödöllő to the Grassalkovich castle, Queen Sissy's favourite place) you can buy an extension or supplement ticket to your destination.

Actually there are four underground railway lines in Budapest. You mention one plus two.
@vuurniacsquarewave50916 жыл бұрын
Your other option to the airport is to take underground line M3 (Blue) to the Kőbánya-Kispest terminus, where you can transfer to the bus line 200E, which does not require a special ticket. Alternatively, you can use most MÁV trains as well as long as they are suburban trains, these lines are designated by a letter and a two-digit number. If you are at the Nyugati train station, you can take any of the following trains with a Budapest 24h,72h, weekly or monthly pass (But not with a single or bundled ticket!!): S50, Z50, G50, S21 - these trains can connect you with the 200E bus at Kőbánya-Kispest as well!

Taxis are yellow only in Budapest. They are managed by BKK, the transport authorizor of the city, that's why all taxi companies and private cab owners have the same tariff and same standards (color, age of car, etc) here.

Hi. If I purchase 72 hours ticket. Do I need to keep validate the ticket every time I use the metro for the next 2 days? or just once from the first day? thank you so much.
@darkominator4 жыл бұрын
It might not valid for you anymore, but it can be useful for other people: you need to validate only the "single way" ticket types. 24 hours, 72 hours, weekly, monthly tickets have a "valid until" date and time printed on them. Also, from the airport you can use the 100E in the video, but also a bus named 200E comes towards the city. The first one stops at only three places (Astoria, Kálvin tér, Deák tér), the latter one is like a normal city bus, it has a lot of stops, but you can use this one with normal ticket or pass. It has its last stop at M3 metro, so it is easy to get into the city with that too. There are special tickets available called Budapest Card: they seems expensive, but you get access to many tourist places with it for free or on reduced prices. About BKK tickets you can read here: bkk.hu/en/tickets-and-passes/prices/ BKK app for Android: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=hu.webvalto.bkkfutar BKK app for Apple: apps.apple.com/hu/app/bkk-fut%C3%A1r/id916193835?l=hu

Thanks for a great video! I got one query - Are all metro stations accessible by only escalators or do you have steps also? I got Escalaphobia :-/
@Kasamori5 жыл бұрын
The oldest (yellow) line goes 3 meters below ground so it doesn't have escalators. All others do.
