I've just started reading The Trouble With Normal and have become very engaged with Warner's views regarding sexuality; in short, I've come to believe that shame equals death. To discover that Dr. Warner's background is in the Carolinas and the Pentecostal movement makes his development as a revolutionary figure in discussing human sexuality in the public sphere all the more remarkable. And it's so wonderful to hear this discussion take place with an interlocutor who clearly understands the key points of Warner 's work. We need so much more of this kind of intellectual discourse--in the public and private spheres.

This is so interesting! I wonder what Warner would say to the development of social media platforms exclusively for the alt right or at least deeply conservative "counterpublics" such as Parler? :O
