As a scruffy student 1985-89 my favourite times were in Edwards No.8, The Dome, Powehouse and Rum Runner. Always enjoy a swift half in The Pot of Beer, Sacks of Potaoes or the Penn and Wig before going into the city centre. Curry at Manzils after every student night was a must. Remember a riot seeing Alice Cooper at the Odeon and Digbeth Civic Hall was always good value. Thanks for the memories, I have photos of hair and clothes just like that!

@@JunieA1 Quite possibly! Joe's wife was Rose, and I believe that their name was Harman. I know for sure that my great uncle Joe was a metalworker, as he made wonderful metal toys for the children in the family :)

People find it hard to believe that I was seeing three bands a week in the 80's. looking at gig lists like the ones included, it's easy to see how we did it.The powerhouse, The Hujmingbird, Digbeth Civic Hall, Burbury's on Broad Street, The Irish Centre and the occasional excursion over to Wolverhapton.

in the seventies i saw 5 or 6 bands a week it was frusterating a good band at the odeon and a gig at the town hall around the corner and you could walk in get a ticket and there was so many good record shops then but we avoided reddingtons rare records and plastic factory who were only out to rip off music fans with there inflated prices
