This Ceremonial Dance was conducted by natives from Jemez Pueblo at Pecos National Historic Park on 8-6-2017 as a part of the celebration of The Feast of Our Lady of the Angels. It was a rare opportunity to record (with permission) the emergence of the dancers from the kiva as well as the dance itself.

Andy fertal, My name is Glendon Toya from the Pueblos of Jemez and Zuni. I am one of the singers who led this group with the Comanche Dance from our Pueblo of Jemez where decendants of the Pecos Pueblo settled and merged to carry on our traditions as we carry them today. We came to celebrate the Pecos Pueblo Feast Day as we have done for several years in honor of our Ancestors. As we know, long before the Spaniards entered this country, this pueblo village was a junction of trade between pueblos of the rio grande and hunting tribes of the plains. Which include the Comanche Nation. Although common warfare and desease led to the decimation of pecos pueblo, our intent was to honor all tribes who once inhabitated this area. Andy Fertal, i kindly ask you to remove this video and put to rest the lashing between our people. I appreciate all who have commented and expressed their feelings whether it be negative or positive. We are all still under one spirit who gave us what we have and what we continue to carry. Thats what its all about. Peace and harmony!

May I ask why your integrating Zuni dances to Jemez? Leave the history out. I want a logical premise on why this is going on without being hostile? Most of your fellow tribal members are intolerant of my objectiveness. As you should know, many Zuni's from my area are very upset about it. Thanks

Glendon Toya Ok...I really don't care what your relatives may think of me. Zuni has issues (as all tribes do). In addition, what I don't like about these dances that are borrowed; is that you can't have a diversity and a uniqueness. Each Pueblo tribe needs to do their own dances or come up with their own concepts. I may not agree with you all but that shouldn't get people upset. I think it's great your humble and nice about it. I encourage you to continue to be humble. You have an ethical right to do as you may but just remember Zuni has a uniqueness that many only want to have. If someone takes something, it will be lost from its original concepts and reason. Many Pueblos may hate me for saying this but my comments are so harmless. I also recommend this dance be taken off KZbin as well. It stirs things up. I know I pissed alot of people off but I am speaking objective truth. Maybe you guys are really paying homage but originality cannot be replaced. Think of all the work one created and did for that dance. The first cause should be respected and I don't believe it is right to plagiarize.

Glendon Toya I'm not hurt. I'm happy. Keep doing as you may. My argument shouldn't discourage you. One thing that bothers me, why did you allow this non-native guy to film this dance?

We dance to those dances with pride and joy. Just because they are dances from different tribes doesn't mean they are rip offs.

Not everybody thinks that way. Imitation is a form of flattery. It shows you can't think for yourselves and come up with your own concepts.

P.Anthony Lasiloo the singers are part Zuni. They are the ones that introduced that dance to Jemez. And to you it may be a form of flattery. But we dance that dance to respect the Pueblo of Zuni.

That is such an obscure random response. Your shifting the burden of proof by blaming someone else.

This is a lovely video. I like being able to see the Native Indians dancing and singing. We are lucky to have them taking videos or we wouldn't be able to know about them. Respect everyone and everything.

I appreciate all of the 'likes' and the respectful comments, but frustrated by the divisiveness shown by some. As a result, I will be approving all comments on this video going forward and will attempt to screen out those I find disrespectful. Please show respect for your fellow humans in their beautiful display of celebration and prayer! I do not plan to delete any comments already posted.

You know people from from other Pueblos dance other Pueblos dances in a show of a respect don't you? Just earlier this year Kewa Pueblo had a Zuni dance in honor of your People. It's just a way of showing respect.

Not all, each is its own. You may have a song and dance for them, but they sure don't have one for you. Talk about honor, why not create your own concepts.

Cody Geewin Your really a sad loser. You sure really have to follow me on KZbin. This debate has nothing whatsoever to do with you. By the way Jemez has a Navajo dance? You know nothing about this. Stay on your lame Navajo premises. In addition, I gave you an explanation and we already had that discussion. You really need to get educated on logic before you make claims. Your a bad debater.

Cody Geewin In addition, it's funny you would make fund of all Pueblo people and rant on Pueblo dances. Someone sure has some cognitive issues. Why not go make your tribe better ethically and logically.
