This looks a lot like my old version, to little "new!" for my taste, though the 2 expansions might actually make this interesting enough, as my version of PR is getting a bit worn out. TBH I would have expected more from a "deluxe" version, the art is nice upgrade (much needed) but component vise I would perhaps have wished for something "more" like perhaps two layered ship cards, and player boards - even a way to stack the "market" in a box setup with little "dividers" for each of the tiles, for easy extraction/playing, all something IMHO easy to do for a company like Rio Grande - this! it just looks like a reprint of the old game + 2 expansions.

Very interesting. The artwork is the same, but that's about the only deluxe "upgrade" that I see. The bilingual Hong Kong edition (English/Chinese) is definitely more "deluxe" than this new English version for a couple of reasons. Firstly, in the HK edition, the goods are represented by chests (like in the anniversary edition), and the colonists/nobles are little black/red chess pawns instead of little discs (the pawns are unique to the HK edition). I'd also like to know how the colonists/nobles are represented. In the Anniversary Edition, colonists/nobles are represented by brown/red wooden cylinders that are used as the "goods" in other editions, including this one. The only thing better about this edition is the blue buildings board. The HK version comes with a brown one, which is far uglier and harder to read. Could someone please post a mm thickness measure of the cardboard on the new English edition? The HK edition thickness measures out at 2mm.

That can in no way be described as a "deluxe" edition. Thin cardboard, no custom tokens, no metal coins, no dual layered player boards. What exactly is "deluxe"?

As you can see, there is no mention of the word "deluxe" on the box. This is simply the 2014 edition of Puerto Rico which is available in many languages all over Europe. Why Rio Grande chose to announce it as a deluxe edition to the public and its partners is anyone's guess. They certainly created some confusion by calling it a deluxe edition in their press material.

Puerto Rico is my number one favorite game of all time. I *_HATE_* the player boards! The fact that the island is not pictured is horrible. That aside, I love the new artwork. Yet that detail is enough for me to not purchase this version.
