Puerto Rico's Old San Juan travel video

We are going to walk around one of the oldest towns in the New World in this episode of Aboard the Guiding Light. Our tour of Old San Juan in Puerto Rico will begin with the blue cobblestone roads and the first thing we will see is Castillo San Felipe del Morro and Castillo San Cristóbal with the city wall, gates, and cemetery in between. After that we will see Ponce De Leon's house (Casa Blanca), Alcadia (2nd oldest city hall), the capital building, La Fortaleza (governor's house), San Jose Church (2nd oldest church in the New World), San Juan Cathedral (burial site of Ponce De Leon), and the Museum of the Americas (housed in the Ballaja Barracks).

On the video the gentleman calls the area where old San Juan is located a peninsula, actually it is an island. It may look somewhat like a peninsula because it is located to the mainland by 4 bridges. The 2 hermanos bridge connects it to the condado area and the other 3 Bridges connect the city to the miramar section of santurce one of the wards (barrios) that makes up San Juan.

Rebecca Gutierrez yes San Juan was originally called Puerto Rico, or Rich Port, but as I said in the video the names got switched theough history and now the city is San Juan and the island is Puerto Rico.
