Here is a chapter-wise short summary of Obadiah, Jonah, and Micah:
Obadiah 1: The book of Obadiah is the shortest book in the Old Testament and contains a prophecy against the nation of Edom. It describes Edom's pride and arrogance, their mistreatment of Israel, and predicts their downfall and judgment by God.
Jonah 1: God calls Jonah to go and preach against the wickedness of the city of Nineveh, but Jonah tries to flee from God's command by boarding a ship. A great storm arises, and Jonah is thrown overboard and swallowed by a large fish.
Jonah 2: Inside the belly of the fish, Jonah prays to God, acknowledging his disobedience and expressing his repentance. After three days and nights, the fish vomits Jonah onto dry land.
Jonah 3: God again commands Jonah to go to Nineveh, and this time Jonah obeys. He proclaims a message of impending judgment, and surprisingly, the people of Nineveh, including the king, repent and turn to God. God relents from bringing destruction upon the city.
Jonah 4: Jonah becomes angry and bitter because God shows mercy to the people of Nineveh. He goes outside the city and waits to see what will happen. God causes a plant to grow and provide shade for Jonah, but then sends a worm to destroy it. God challenges Jonah's anger and lack of compassion, emphasizing His love and concern for all people.
Micah 1: Micah delivers a message of judgment against Samaria and Jerusalem, warning of their impending destruction because of their idolatry and injustice. The chapter ends with a lamentation over the devastation that will come upon these cities.
Micah 2: Micah denounces the wickedness and oppression of the people, particularly the rich and powerful. He prophesies judgment upon them and declares that God will gather His remnant and restore them.
Micah 3: Micah rebukes the leaders and prophets for their corruption and false prophecies. He warns that Jerusalem will be destroyed because of their wickedness but assures that God will preserve a faithful remnant.
Micah 4: This chapter contains a vision of the future Messianic age, where peace, justice, and prosperity will prevail. Micah speaks of God's reign from Zion and the gathering of the nations to learn His ways.
Micah 5: Micah prophesies the birth of the Messiah in Bethlehem, who will rule in Israel and bring peace. He also speaks of God's judgment upon Israel's enemies.
Micah 6: Micah confronts the people with their rebellion and reminds them of God's faithfulness. He calls for justice, mercy, and humility, and declares the consequences of their disobedience.
Micah 7: Micah laments over the corruption and wickedness prevalent in society. Despite the prevailing darkness, he expresses hope and trust in God's salvation, acknowledging God's faithfulness and forgiveness.
