I was 16 and pregnant (many years ago) and my son was positive for Down syndrome. The Dr wanted me to have an abortion and I REFUSED to do that. My mom and I talked about how we were so blessed to have a baby no matter how he was going to come. My whole pregnancy at only 16 years old I was expecting a baby with Down syndrome. September 16,2005 my son was born without Down syndrome. Well, my point, these babies are a blessing to this world. I remember being in middle school and seeing these special beautiful children and I always felt some type of connection with them. I’m an optician and when we see patients with Down syndrome, those are my favorite patients. They’re so loving, smart, sweet. You name it! They are beautiful.

My friends from church were told their daughter had Down's Syndrome during pregnancy and the doctors very heavily kept on telling them to abort the child. They said she would never be able to walk, talk, sit or do anything, she would just be a vegetable. They didn't listen to the doctors and little Po was born with a number of complications and was in hospital for the longest time that year, but she eventually was healthy enough to go home. She was just the cutest when we finally met her. This girl can walk, talk, sit and do everything all her big brothers and sister can do too. She is such a beautiful and sweet blessing. These doctors will advise you to kill your baby because of a disability they think they see, which the child might or might not actually have, but either way, if pregnant women kept aborting their children, they would never get the chance to know the joy of their children.

This had me in tears. My third is autistic and at age almost 11 has very little verbal skills and I felt like we lost her for years which covered me in grief. She fecal smeared for three years every day and one day I was cleaning her up in the bath with poop all over her and wrapped her in a towel and kissed her. After that hug, the Holy Spirit said to me “this is how much I love you, covered in filth and sin”. I burst out in tears and my relationship with both her and God changed. He changed my heart and attitude towards her. She is a gift and has multiple movies memorized and loves art. I have never felt so much joy at the smallest of milestones. The first time she said “mom” I cried. Thank you for the work you do.😊

How can anyone watch this without crying! My brother, now age 64, has Down Syndrome and, thank God, my parents rejected the recommendations that he be put in an institution and forgotten about. Since my parents rejected that and kept him home and my mother even started a pre-school for developmentally disabled children, he has been a complete blessing. He is not nearly as high-functioning as Kai, we love him no less. What a great story and one that I will keep with me forever.

I took some days off and promised him I would bring him back 2 cupcakes for his birthday and had passed the day before I came back. People don’t know the joy and amazement and love people with Down syndrome bring. It’s been over a decade and I think of him often

Yes! I'm autistic and my mother has told me many times that she loves me exactly as I am and wouldn't want me any different. She was 37 when she had me so they wanted to do tests to see if i would be born with downs syndrome, implying so she could abort and my mom was offended at the idea. She told them she would love me all the same disabilities or not, and that she did ❤

What a beautiful family! I wish more people would embrace having children with special needs, especially downs syndrome. I lived with a family with a daughter with downs syndrome when I was an exchange student. She was my little buddy! I loved living there and getting to experience the joy she brought to all of us. We have friends with children with special needs and each of them really do bring joy (yes, they are a lot work, too). The amount of joy and happiness far outweighs any dificulties that come.
