Brilliant! I will definitely do this walk... Thanks for doing the original leg work👏🏿. I wouldn’t have thought of it as a destination in the first instance and if I did, I wouldn’t have done it thinking it was miles and miles........ I’m happy with approx 7.5 miles and 2 hours 👍🏿. Cos of Covid hopefully I could have a coffee or toilet break otherwise I would be less that impressed ! Thanks Ivor!

Did another bike ride from stairfoot to Wakefield kirkgate via newmillerdam pugneys then went up to sandle castle then on to kirkgate , looking at spen valley green way and Dewsbury Osset via Horbury into Wakefield next , very impressed with West Yorkshire’s public parks and cycling infrastructure, still feel like I’m crossing the border into enemy territory though lol, from newmillerdam I went along Barnsley road to just past the pledwick pub then left past kettlethorp hall then St. George’s walk then asdale road and pugneys, thanks for the videos which give great ideas for destinations to cycle to and open up new horizons for me.

There is a nicer route, a path by the school near Asda's goes through some woods and lakes and streams and comes out very close to newmillerdam , if you check on Google maps for a cycle route it shows this, also there is an exit further along the railway line. Nice walk though.

Yeah, I was going to shake it up and come back that way before my GoPro battery died on me. I carry two batteries just in case but the spare drained itself in 5 mins. Grrrrr!!!!

Mate got a coffee and some cake from the boat house , me being a tight wad I just used my trekmates cook flask and cook box to heat up coffee and some rice pudding ( you can take the man out of Barnsley but you can’t take Barnsley out of the man lol)

Yes, they are free during Lockdown.
