Puig Windscreen install - 2020 Honda Rebel 500

This is part 2 of an installation day. The windscreen install was quick and easy. I purchased it from Amazon, Puig New Generation for Honda Rebel, Color - smoke, Model 9462H. $127.67 + tx sh - total $138.04

I do mine.My bike is parked for our winter, just too much fog in the helmet shield without freezing my face off.

I did enjoy it and you’re right about feeling a little bit more at ease that you’re not going to get hit by a bug or maybe a rock at least not where it might count like your face or your chest. It’s cold out right now so I don’t know how much longer I’ll be able to take a little ride. During the day it gets about in the upper 60s so that might give me a little bit more time on the bike. I know why you couldn't see my post, I put a link in for a BILT solar reflective. I bought from cycle gear. I like it because it's short waisted, has pockets, adjustable and my husband says the reflection is great he can see me a .5mile away, day and night.

Hey Gabbie, I am not confident enough to take on a passenger so I could not tell you how that would work. But what I can tell you is, I rode as a passenger with my daughter for the first time. I was a bit nervous and I believe, so. Was she because I may have been her first passenger on a long ride and she was on a big bike, she pulled it off, but there were a lot of rules that we made sure I followed. For instance, don’t move as a passenger while you’re riding, try to stay still but before you takeoff, get in a comfortable position and if you feel that you have to move around in your seat, you must let the rider know. There are a lot of videos on how to start getting comfortable if you want to take a passenger on the bike with you. In the KZbin search engine just type learning to ride with a passenger and I’m sure you’ll find a plethora of videos that will help you out. Hey noelled2918, we did remove the cowl at first but I didn’t like how it looked. So all I did was remove just the windshield, kept the hardware on. Put the cowl back on very carefully then put the windshield back on to the brackets. It’s a very tight fit but it will go on. You might have to fiddle with it for a bit. Hope that helps. @@fatimaais7494 well honestly, I have it off right now because it’s rubbing against the covering over the headlight. And it also depends on your height when you’re sitting on the seat. My daughter took the bike out last month and she is taller than me and she felt it buffering at the top of her helmet, so she would scoot down to not have that feeling.

@@fatimaais7494 just for a quick reference my daughter is 5’2 and I’m 4’11 😆 i’m a Shorty. I’m still not as experienced when it comes to riding so I felt like it was in the way if that makes any sense. I just wanted to be able to clearly see and have nothing in between me and my clear vision when riding. Good luck to you whatever you decide to do.

Thanks for the video, was wondering how the windscreen looked like with the headlight cowl installed at the same time. I'm guessing you can't place it right behind the cowl due to the way the windscreens holding mechanism is constructed.

Are you sure the correct part number is P9464H? I really like the look of the windscreen that fits snug over the cowl, and I cannot find any other sources that show a windscreen that fits over the rebel headlight cowl like yours has.

@@Ness1228 9462H is the part number that I got from Amazon. I want to apologize, I guess my fat finger must’ve hit the 4 instead of the 2. I just looked it up on my order from last year on Amazon and the 9462H is the correct number. Again, I’m so sorry for the miss information.

@@marioreyjr the H I believe just stands for the light smoke, which is what I got. There are different tints to the Windscreen. You could get clear, dark smoke, and light smoke. You could go to their website or you can go to Amazon, which is where I got it or you can go to Revzilla‘s website as well. it will tell you that this particular Windscreen does not fit over the head cowl and that it may not even fit the Honda rebel however, it does. If you type Puig windscreen on the Amazon website or on the part number that I gave you, you will see that other people commented on the fit.

Hey Henkseverens, so what he did was tilt up the brackets on each side just a little bit. Enough where the windscreen can attach to each bracket and be secured. However, It is a very tight fit. I would recommend when you get ready to put the windscreen on to put a very thin layer of silky fabric on top of the headlight cowl so as not to scratch it and then once you’ve got everything secured, just carefully pull the fabric either from the top or underneath. You don’t want to scratch the headlight cowel as it can easily be scratched. I hope that helps.

Hi, I think I’ve bought the same screen and don’t want to remove the cowl, how did your hubby sort it out if you don’t mind me asking?

Hey The_witch_13, so, he removed the windscreen leaving the brackets attached. He then put the headcowl back on and secured it . Put the windscreen back on and lightly screwed each side because he wanted to make sure that the height was going to be just right, it is a very very tight fit. He then gently screwed the fronts screws to the windshield and tightened everything up. I’ll tell you there is no vibration at all. Again it is a very tight fit but the headlight cowl must go on first once you remove the windscreen and then put the windscreen back on. I have a few scratches on the headcowl but it’s not that noticeable. I hope that helps.

hi, i was considering adding a windscreen to my Rebel 500. At higher speeds, my helmet gets pushed backwards straining my neck. Anyways, I'm 5'2", not sure if I'd be looking through or over the windscreen. Can you tell me the height of yours above the headlight? thanks

Hi Mudpie, so I measured the center round part of the bottom of the windscreen to the very top and it measures about a foot 1/2. Mind you it is sitting over the headlight Cowl. I hope that helps. My apologies. It took so long to reply but I am in the recovery stage of a really bad flu 😷
