Puig Windshield Review on Yamaha FJR1300

I bought the Puig windscreen for my 2015 Yamaha FJR1300. Here's my review.

Cool! Thanks so much! We’re in the middle of moving up the road is SC but more content coming. The FJR is a blast and the sixth gear on the newer bikes is simply not needed. Plus the recall issues with the six-speed. Very happy with the 2015.

Those "wings' on the side of the Puig look like they deflect wind behind the mirrors, which were supposed to block wind from getting to the hands.

Nice ride, I had the same problem with my helmet, I pushed in bottom of planter( proper size) inside the helmet to put some pressure on the foam to soften it. It works .

I haven't tried to close the mirrors but yes, I think there would be room. The mirrors are quite far out from the screen.

What is your height by the way what is your inseam are you flat-footed when you're sitting on the bike?. Important stats to know when getting a new windshield.

I'm about 5'9" with a 30 inch inseam, a very common height. Very average.

Hi, I am in the process get either V Stream or Puig like yours. All I care for is the wind noise. I t was not clear to me on your video, when you raised it all the way up to its maximum height, did you hear any wind noise around your helmet? The stock one is creating so much noise. I like its look but it does not deliver its purpose to protect the wind noise. This is 22 inch tall, the V stream is 23.25 inches tall. It gains another 1.25 inches taller. I like the extra wings on the left and right, but are they blocking your view to both mirrors? Your camera angle shows it blocks but maybe not? How sturdy is it? Does it vibrate when it is fully raised up to 70mph plus? I am ok to see through the shield which is like cars. I am 5"8" tall with 29" inseam, it is kind of short but I can manage that with a thicker boots, :) So, based on my data, do you think the shield is sufficient to protect from wind noise to the helmet? As long as the wind buffs above the helmet, is all I care. Oh, btw, since this video is 2 years old, I am sure your new custom seats from France already installed. How is it? I am planning to get mine from them as well. Mine is 2023 ES model, cobalt blue. Thank's for sharing and caring to others.

Hey, good questions. I liked the Puig very much. The winglets do not block the mirrors. Combined with the automatic adjustment on the windshield I could dial in a comfortable ride. And like you, for me comfort includes reduced wind noise. Ultimately, I sold the bike, but not because of wind noise. I sold it because of the saddle and the seating position with the weight on my wrists. Even with the Top Selerie saddle, I found it uncomfortable. And then the bike is so fast, I picked up a few speeding tickets. That also has to do with the seating position. I was going faster than I should, trying to generate enough wind to get the weight off my wrists. It was a great bike, but I’m an older guy and in the end I couldn’t enjoy the aggressive seating position. But I was very happy with the Puig. I hope this helps you. Thanks!

@@QuentinsMotoVlog I am glad to hear it. Well, I just gotten mine last night, V-Stream. I debated between V-Stream and Puig. I tried V-Stream. Installed it last night, but I am not use to it. It seems so big when it is fully raised up. It is kind of ugly but I will try for a week to see if i still like it. I will ride today, very cold 32 degrees, but just to get a feel of the wind. am sure it will do the job. However, I miss the look of sporty one, the stock windshield. I keep it as spare for now. I am only 5'8", you are may be taller than me. If the like does not grow in me because of the size, I may want to return it and perhaps exchange it with Puig. Well, you sold yours, what did you replace it with? Speaking about older age, I am too. I will ride until one day, I decide not to ride anymore and I may pass it down to my daughter. She likes it but don't know whether she can handle it. Thank's and yes, your explanation helps aa lot. Do you still making video? Ok, take care and ride safe.

@@boenq1908 hey bud. A lot there. I’m about 5’8” too. I never tried the V-Stream but as I said, I did like the Puig. Yep, still making videos, but only when inspiration strikes or I think I have something helpful to share. As I’ve mentioned in videos I love getting new (to me) bikes almost as much as I love riding them. But the current market has me sticking with the three I have, and that’s a good thing. I did love the FJR though. What did I get instead? I’m embarrassed to say I don’t know!! I think it was after that I had the Kawasaki Vaquero. And there was the Harley Pan America. And the BMW R18 I still have.

@QuentinsMotoVlog thanks. I bought V stream, installed. I am still not sure whether I should keep it to to exchange with puig. I will ride again for a longer route to feel it. For some reason I dont feel comfortable, but it helps the noise and if it is fully raised up, it is so big, and kind of ugly. But when I lower it down, it is about the highest position on the stock one then it is still acceptable. This is the issue I still debate. Sure get a new one is a great feeling and accomplishment. I ordered my 2023 fjr Es in March and it arrived at the end of May. I am still waiting for its top box which takes too long to wait. They said, December 23 will be the date they ship it, and let me see. I had 2 Honda vtx, VTX1300R and VTX1300 c, sold the R and keep the C and added fjr. I am thinking to let go the 1300 C and keep only one bike, and may be another year and a half later, I may want to add the goldwing. I was supposed to get the goldwing , but they did not have the clutch one, so went ahead to get the fjr instead. I will keep checking your video later. Thanks. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving. 😊

@@boenq1908 thanks! And I would only buy the manual transmission Goldwing myself. They keep trying to disconnect us from our vehicles with electronics. That’s ok for cars, maybe, but not for motorcycles!!! That is counter to the entire point!

It’s called a California stop. Basically you slow to one or two miles per hour. Not sure where you are located but in the U.S. you will piss people off if you come to a full stop where there clearly isn’t any traffic.

Had 2 FJRs. Wind buffeting and roar were always a problem Too bad. It's a great motorcycle but the wind roar is awful. I can hear yours already. How to blow $18K - buy an FJR.

I got the wind noise under control but eventually sold it because it was too fast and I started getting speeding tickets.
