2. SOUNDBITE (English) Joshua Cohen, US author of the satirical book "The Netanyahus," which won the 2022 Pulitzer Prize for fiction:
"I didn't know the Pulitzers were being announced yesterday. I don't typically keep track - for a guy who can't really keep track of his mother's birthday sometimes, I don't exactly keep track of the Pulitzer dates. But I certainly didn't plan on being in the only city in the world that is more complicated to be in than New York on the day you win a Pulitzer, especially Pulitzer for a book involving the Netanyahu family."

4. SOUNDBITE (English) Joshua Cohen, US author of the satirical book "The Netanyahus," which won the 2022 Pulitzer Prize for fiction:
"I mean, the book came from the great American literary critic Harold Bloom, who died not too long ago. And the book is dedicated to Bloom. And it comes from an anecdote that he gave and that I developed, significantly transformed, about a visit of the Netanyahu family to, really for Ben-Zion Netanyahu who is Bibi Netanyahu, Yoni Netanyahu and Iddo Netanyahu's father, to go for a job interview at a at a college, in the book a fictional college in upstate New York. You shouldn't call it upstate in western New York that all city people call upstate New York. But, really, the deeper part of it, beyond the sort of anecdote came from my own questioning of certain political phenomena that that I felt like I was experiencing, you know, certainly gaps and breakages everywhere between my generation and my parents' generation in terms of their politics with regard to Israel, Israel-Palestine."

6. SOUNDBITE (English) Joshua Cohen, US author of the satirical book "The Netanyahus," which won the 2022 Pulitzer Prize for fiction:
"I wrote about Netanyahu because he was my way of getting at Trump and getting at certain feelings that I had during the Trump administration, especially about the fate of liberalism, which became something of a dirty word, before the Trump administration. But certainly during it, it acquired that prefix. Whenever a word acquires a prefix such as neo, it becomes neo liberalism. Whenever a word, you know, acquires a prefix like that, it's being weaponised, it's being turned against its truest roots and liberalism felt under attack."

10. SOUNDBITE (English) Joshua Cohen, US author of the satirical book "The Netanyahus," which won the 2022 Pulitzer Prize for fiction:
"But what they both (Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu's fathers) did was they both provided models to their sons, that their sons almost destroyed themselves trying to live up to. For Donald Trump, it was building like his father was building and for Bibi Netanyahu, it was really implementing his father's ideology, which in turn was the revisionist ideology, the idea that Jews don't have to wait for the great powers of the world to give them a land. You don't have to wait for Britain to say, 'here you go, we'll leave'. You don't have to wait for the United States to say, 'great, take it'. But that, in fact, it had to be taken by force and it had to be governed cruelly."
