Yeah I am thankfully. My video from a few weeks back is actually the bridge that is in the news that was taken out. I drove those roads that are taken out. It’s surreal and terrifying to see how high that water got. The Tom miner bridge was about 20’ over the water, and the road that was wiped out on yankee Jim at that point is probably 40’ or so above the water, to give you an idea of just how high that river got. Right now I’m up in NW MT, was going to camp out right next to the north fork but after seeing how scary it looked, I decided to stay far away from it. My camp spot would’ve only been about 4’ above the raging river and about 20’ away from it. Right now I’m in the mountains, but even that I have to be weary of because there is a massive snowstorm moving in that could dump up to 20” of snow! What a crazy summer it’s turning out to be!

I just recently found your channel by searching Cummins Northing Lite camper because I own a Cummins and am buying a Northern Lite. It was a bonus that you were from Montana as am I and I get to see the places I plan on boondocking when I retire from the Navy at the end of the year. I am not a KZbinr yet however, I watch a lot of videos and have some recommendations. Review your truck, camper, gear, etc. Positive or negative it'll bring people to your channel wanting to buy those items. If you do really good (not necessarily positive) reviews you might get free gear from companies wanting to showcase theirs. Try to link up with other KZbinrs with similar channels. Talk about yourself. What did you do before? Why go full time? Positives and negatives? Zeda..... so beautiful. How is it for her? Vets on the road? My wife is nervous about taking our older shepherd out in the wilderness. Keep the channel the way it is with your style but add just a little of some of that into each video. Or, do quick vids for specific topics. You more than doubled subscribers in over a year so I'm sure you're going to do that again. Your drone footage is amazing. More More More!

also, wouldn't air suspension help? you could raise the rear for a bit more tongue clearance?
@downbytheriver5012 жыл бұрын
Possibly but the truck is currently riding pretty level and I have to have about 4” of drop on the hitch already for the trailer! It’s just not designed to be driven off-road even in the slightest. Especially since it’s an aluminum trailer, I’ve heard they’re not as tough(the welds at least) as steel ones. But I am strongly considering adding a bit of lift and some larger tires to make its life a bit easier!
@alaska-bornfloridaman2 жыл бұрын
Exactly what I was thinking. I put the extreme duty air bags, (7500 lbs I believe) on my Ram, and it raises the truck, camper and trailer easily. Definitely would've worked here.

@downbytheriver501 Жыл бұрын
Apologies for the late response. KZbin doesn’t let me know when folks comment a lot of the time. This trailer was a 16’. Never really thought of the axle flip til you mentioned it I’ll have to look into that!

Is that a 7.5 x 14 or 16’ trailer?
@downbytheriver501 Жыл бұрын
This video I have a 7.5x16’. I’ve upgraded to a 8x21 which i somewhat regret cause it’s way harder to get around!
@deltabravo1257 Жыл бұрын
I sold my 8.5x20 for that exact reason…. It was a nuisance to take to out of the way campsites, and the ramp door opening (height) was too short for me to upgrade to a Polaris General, which I might buy someday. Back in 2019 I bought a 7x12 at a steal of a deal and stopped using the 8.5x20. In November of 2022 I finally sold the big trailer since I hadn’t used it since 2018.

Are you running a hitch extension to attach the trailer?
@downbytheriver5012 жыл бұрын
Nope, I wanted to keep that thing as close as possible to reduce cantilever and overall length of vehicle and trailer. But it has its downfalls as well, obviously.
@josephvallier11522 жыл бұрын
@@downbytheriver501 I am considering running a similar setup. I'm over tent camping and want the comfort of a small camper. I have a RZR 4 seater and ATV we usually tow along with us and we camp off-grid 99% of the time but I don't want a massive toy hauler to deal with. Are you mostly happy with your setup? Would you do anything different?
@downbytheriver5012 жыл бұрын
@@josephvallier1152 yes I’d say I’m mostly happy. If I could do it again, I’d go for the 10-2 instead of the 9-6 and put it on a super singled 5500 ram. I have actually upgraded my trailer to an 8x21’ V nose instead of my old 7.5x16’ because I couldn’t fit my new adv bike (tenere 700) and my 6x6 at the same time. Downside now is I have to store that tenere in the nose area which means more tongue weight. Which means I’ll probably be maxing out my rear tires (4080 lbs ea max). So the struggle continues. I need to get a dually minimum in order to safely haul all this stuff. So yeah, I’d say get a truck that’s bigger than you think you need so you don’t have to worry about going over GVWR, GAWR, etc. That’s what I’m concluding
@josephvallier11522 жыл бұрын
@@downbytheriver501 Why would you go up to the 10-2? More space? I would think you need a hitch extension for your trailer with the 10-2 because of the massive overhang off the back of the truck. That's why I was thinking the 9-6 would be better. I definitely understand going with the dually. That payload add up quickly.
@downbytheriver5012 жыл бұрын
@@josephvallier1152 Moore space yep. The 9-6 works great though as well. Just not as much space. The cab over is a lot shorter as well so it kinda limits your ability to sit up straight in it for more than half of the front section. And yes, you’d definitely need a substantial hitch extension for the 10-2.
