I found a box turtle that had a small hole in his shoulder area...being familiar with bot fly larvae (my rabbit) I realized the swelling in his shoulder was just that. It was one huge botfly larvae and so disgusting. If they r in water they can get infected with open wounds so I bet he’s glad that was removed.

When I was like 15 I volunteered with the local SPCA near me because I wanted to be a vet. Anyways, the first time I saw a tick it was on a really underweight dog that had them in it's ears. The lady that took me around to show me what to do pulled one off that might have been just a tiny bit bigger. They are disgusting that's for sure. I couldn't believe my eyes when she placed it between a newspaper and took a thick book to smashed it. It looked like a murder scene. They are nasty and carry diseases. ThAnk God you got them in time before they really hurt them
