A good example of Jarvis's talent in telling a story, sad but not over-sentimental. It's from a piece of everyday life, not some vague contrived poetry. This live version is gorgeous.

Beneath the surface, the story told in this song is a downright tragedy. I guess it's become a reality for many young and mid-aged women and also men nowadays, today even more than back in the days when Different Class was released in 1995, I think. Life is a living hell in a prison of alienation, isolation and indifference for too many people, day in and day out. I'm a man, obviously, and this song hurts me to the bones. Another year, and I can count myself in to my ending thirties. Couldn't care less about reaching my forties, let alone live them. This performance is also proof of the unmatched artistic capacity and musicianship of this group. A terribly underrated act to whom the Britpop branding will hardly ever pay justice. Love it.

So much to choose from to form the reality of music. Why one older song gets played over another never really made much sense to me either. This song is a masterpiece.

I remember seeing them perform this song at the first V Festival event in Warrington. Against the big screen, they showed a montage of ice dancers from the 1960s.. black and white footage Although it had nothing to do with the lyrics of the song, it was so beautiful. The memory has stayed with me all these years.

Iván A. I've seen a bit of us And I only saw her say, That I've never ever said "I know it's not too late" And I've never ever said It's only to going to go away, away, And I'm dying outside But it's just always feeling wrong, No, No, oh god. I'm leaving tonight. I going home and thats alright.
