There was something in the suitcase originally, but Tarantino and Roger Avary realized whatever they put in there wouldn’t live up to anybodys expectations. The suitcase idea is stolen from a Robert Aldrich movie, Kiss Me Deadly, and I think the glowing light represents the atomic bomb in that film, I thought it was supposed to be Pandora’s box in that movie.

It's so ever-fresh. Sorta like how Devo from the 80's still sounds like future music, this movie could've came out yesterday. Nothing really dates it. I watch it infrequently enough that there's always surprises and things I didn't pick up on before to notice.

Hey Jen, You totaly picked up on one of the many themes in "Pulp Fiction", in which each person is the protagonist in their own story. -------- So when each story is happening the story comes from their point of view. Which allows for villians to be pitted against each other. ------- When Jules is in the room speaking to Brad, it's from his point of view. Or When Butch has to go back for the watch and saves Marcellus it's from his point of view. ------- Although the characters and storylines are interconnection, it all depends on the lens though which it is viewed. --------- Which makes you root for one person over the other based on the lens which it's viewed. Simply brilliant writing.

And this switching is reflected in the seemingly random conversations, many of which really debate whether things have intrinsic value -- why the name of the Quarter Pounder changes under the metric system, is a foot rub the same as sex, why do we love dogs but not pigs when both are equally dirty, etc. etc.

The first time I saw this movie, I was confused with everything being out of order, and following three groups of characters, but gradually it made sense. One of Tarantino's best films, in my opinion.

Bad Tarantino imitators write stories with scenes out of order just to be edgy. But this movie did it for a reason: Tarantino wanted the audience to know that Travolta dies before he actually does, that way the final conversation with Jules in the diner about redemption, miracles, fate, messages from God, and walking the earth, carries so much more weight when you know that Samuel L. Jackson walks away but Travolta doesn't.

No one writes dialogue like Quentin Tarantino. Every conversation from Hans Landa's interogation and subtly implied threats against Perrier LaPadite to Jules and Vincent talking about if a dog is a flithy animal is magnificent to hear. He makes every conversation feel believable and genuine and directs actor perfectly. There is never this perfectly snappy "MCU style" banter or clichéd monologues, almost no one delivers there lines perfectly in rapid succession because that is not how a real conversation goes. He makes every conversation seem like its a genuine discussion between two actual people with differing opinions or worldviews. Every Tarantino movie is worth to checkout, my favorite being Resevoir Dogs, which i would highly recommend!

My only complaint is that in his earlier movies many of the characters sound the same or have the same "voice"/"talk the same", but in later movies this has been fixed and everyone has their own voice or character. I think it is because in earlier movies so many of the characters were gangsters.

Awe Jen, during the bible verse scene at the beginning of the movie. To see you flinch when Sam Jackson points the gun, eats the burger and tosses the tv stand for saying "WHAT" was priceless. ------- It showed you're so real and immersed in the movie. Despite the fact that it's only a movie you still empathize with the characters to the point that you flinch when they flinch, you grimace when they grimace. -----You basically place yourself in the minds of the character. ------ Which is what makes your reactions so great. ----- I knew you would love this movie. I personally prefer Inglourious Basterds and Kill Bill Vol 1, but I definitely agree this is his most intricate and well-crafted film. The way Tarantino uses the non-linear structure is so good, you're left confused for a large part of it and then it becomes so satisfying to see how the stories all fit together

Tarantino movies have his signature vibe, regardless of the genre. He usually works with the same group of actors over and over. He's written roles specifically for Uma Thurman. He has an encyclopaedic knowledge of music. He has impeccable instinct for picking just the right tune for the right moment. Check out interviews where he's talking about music. That's one popular theory. I've never given it much credence, mostly because if Vincent and Jules are otherworldly beings who commonly handle tangible souls, then Jules' moment of clarity and Vincent's dismissal of its spiritual legitimacy at the end don't make much sense. Other theories include the case containing some kind of gold, possibly an Academy Award, or jewels, possibly the diamonds that were stolen in the Reservoir Dogs heist. Co-writer Roger Avery has stated that early versions of the script explicitly showed the case to contain diamonds, but that he and Tarantino thought that was "too boring and predictable". No matter what it "really" has inside, though, it was probably *mostly* just a visual reference to one of Tarantino's favorite noirs, "Kiss Me Deadly" from 1955, which also has a case with glowing contents at the center of the plot.

I'm not sure if this us true, but it makes sense. Heroin is supposed to be in balloons so it's not mistaken for cocaine. When Vincent bought the heroin, his dealer told he was out of balloons and he doesn't do cocaine, so he just let him put it in the bag. When Mia found it, she assumed it was coke because it was in a bag and that's why she snorted it.

At 5:38 I recently read that Samuel L Jackson had to wait a long time during his audition for this role, so he went out to get some fast food. When he was eating it he finally got called up to do his audition, and by that time he was really pissed off about being told to wait for quite a long time. So he went into the audition and kept eating his burger and drinking his soft drink looking angry and mean as hell at Tarantino and the others doing the audition. Tarantino was so impressed that not only did Jackson get the role, but Tarantino decided to add the burger eating and sprite drinking part into the scene.

This movie marked the start of a new era in movie making -- telling a story out of order. Tarantino is a master of it. Other directors mess it up so their stories are confusing for no good reason. They think it makes them clever, but their art lacks the X factor that Tarantino has. This is one of my favorite movies.

Random first thing to mention -- Ricky Nelson was the son of Ozzie Nelson, and he, Ozzie, his mom and his brother were the focus of "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet", a sitcom in the 50's. He also was a 50's/60's rock and roll singer who fathered Matt and Gunnar Nelson, aka "Nelson", a hair metal band which like a few of them towards the end, really wasn't; but they DID have long hair. The songs they're known for are "Love and Affection", "After the Rain", and, as Power Tool on the Bill and Ted soundtrack, "Two Heads are Better than One". And as a wrestling fan I know that for some reason Chris Jericho kept trying to rock the Gunnar Nelson look until five years after anyone remembered them. Totally random.

Really funny watching you watching 'Pulp fiction' with the dialogue constantly cutting out through the MANY expletives! Quentin does a great movie, but, boy-o-boy does he suffer from potty mouth! His films are always hugely entertaining though, 'Django unchained' is awesome, especially as it gives Leonardo De Capreo a chance to be a really bad baddie.

If you look at the back of his head, he has a 666 tattoo and a cross configuration of band-aids where his soul was taken out and hence his henchmen sent out to retrieve it and the divine intervention scene where they weren’t shot.❤👍💯🇦🇺
