For the ones who are confused about first lines of the song: this song is not taking itself seriously. The first lines are actually dumb, childish insults. You know how in the middle school, people are trying insulting you with “your mom” jokes etc. Also it shows the culture: members of Pulp grew up in poor neighborhoods where people are more aggressive. The character in the song is mad after break up, so he insults his former partner in different ways…
@antonystringfellow51528 ай бұрын
Similar to where I grew up, though that wasn't really poor. I think it's quite common across the industrial North. At least, the industrial parts of Yorkshire.

@anastasias36785 ай бұрын
@@Jess-nl8hz I am sorry it came out wrong, poor doesn’t equal more aggressive. But I am also speak from my own experience, I grew up in Ukraine in the village and people were more expressive and less friendly, cause life there was very tough. When I moved to other place I noticed the difference in culture and how people communicate. But it depends more on people self than status and place. But I was just talking about what I read about the song and yeah I maybe wrong too

lyrics: The trouble with your brother, He's always sleeping with your mother. And I know that your sister missed her time again this month. Am I talking too fast or are you just playing dumb? If you want I can write it down. It should matter to you, 'Cause aren't you the one, With your razzmatazz and the nights on the town? Oh you knew it, and you blew it didn't you babe? I was lying when I asked you to stay. Now no-one's gonna care, If you don't call them when you said. And he's not coming round tonight to try and talk you into bed. And all those stupid little things, They ain't working, No they ain't working any more. You started getting fatter, Three weeks after I left you. And now you're going with some kid who looks like some bad comedian. Are you gonna go out? Or are you sitting at home eating boxes of Milk Tray? Watch TV on your own, aren't you the one, With your razzmatazz and your nights on the town? And your father wants to help you doesn't he babe? But your mother wants to put you away. Now no-one's gonna care, If you don't call them when you said. And he's not coming round tonight to try and talk you into bed. And all those stupid little things, They ain't working, No they ain't working any more. Oh well I saw you at the doctor's, Waiting for a test. You tried to look like some kind of heiress, But your face is such a mess. And now you're going to a party, And you're leaving on your own. Well, I'm sorry, but didn't you say, That things go better with a little bit of razzamatazz? And now no-one's gonna care, If you don't call them when you said. And he's not coming round tonight to try and talk you into bed. Now it's half past ten in the evening, And you wish that you were dead, 'Cause all those stupid little things, They ain't working, No they ain't working any more

I bought the book that features in the opening shots called: "How to Live in Style: Young Color Guide to Modern Decoration, 1974". Brilliant read that gives real insights into the visual stylistics of PULP's music videos. An example includes a double page spread 110 to 111 with a rounded beveled image in full 1970's décor (*showing a wall-integrated alcove bath unit fixture with a beveled square frame design in the picture). This finding is relevant to reflect the boarder you see throughout 'DISCO 2000'. There aren't as many hardback copies available to buy. (*Original Post = 66 Likes - was removed due to a troll).
