you saved at least 2 hours of searching, preparing notes from various sources. I am an undergraduate teacher, i visited many websites how to exactly teach a concept of "pulse compression in radar system". this video helped me a lot.

Fun fact: Bats do the same thing with their SONAR. They have an FM sweeping chirp, which they use for matched filtering and high range resolution. They also have a CW pulse for doppler resolution, but moths learned to stop flapping their wings when they hear it, so the bats also have to do FM sweeps.

Thanks for the amazing video. I have a question. Does it make sense to use 2 chirp signals added together to cancel the effect of doppler. First chirp linearly increases and second chirp linearly descreases. Doppler should apply as addition or subtraction to both so we can use combined chirp signal to cancel/calculate doppler? Like f1+ f2 = const.... (f1+doppler) +(f2+doppler) = measured..... doppler = (measured-const)/2

Thank you for the interesting content. I have a question please, what is the sampling rate to use in LFM to reconstruct the received signal ?

Nice presentation but the principle of single tone versus chirp correlation is more general than just Radar application. A single tone correlation with its template gives triangular output while chirp gives high unmistakable peak. Example is Zadoff Chu sequences used in LTE delay measurement.

not to mention that CHIRP has lower PAPR compared to nearly anything. Which means you may use lower energy PowerAmplifier, which means cheaper radar, that dont overheat and remains reliable etc etc etc.... oh, and CHIRP has constant envelope which means that PowerAmplifier can be non-linear and use even lower energy.
