Today we are playing the Nova Cat in a Large and Medium Pulse Laser loaduot. This 70 ton heavy Clan Mech has a very good balance between free slots and weight to carry weapon systems. With our 26 double heat sinks we can easily sustain the damage and the high hardpoints in the shoulders make early poking really easy.

These videos have maintained my sanity in a fairly insane semester at college lol. I have a couple of requests/challenges: 1.) Make a build with any IS mech that makes use of the biggest/heaviest targeting computer (and maybe pair it with all of the range and velocity skill nodes) 2.) Make the world's most annoying light mech build that utilizes the fastest engine possible, and maxes out the Jump Jets and Movement skill trees (I'm thinking maybe a Spider-5D for this one) I don't expect these builds to be the new meta, but I bet they'd be fun to try :)

The only problem with leaving light mechs alone is they will get behind you and kill you or just screw up your attack on another mech. I like to take them out when I can target them.

This build is amazing I was playing it on day one and its pinpoint is absurdly nightmarish, it cools quickly. Also amazing is quad LPL. Lrm 90 or atm36 are also great. Such a well balanced mech, fair survivability, fair mobility, all in the pursuit of monstrous hard points

What went wrong on HPG? You went in the basement, the lights reamed everyone up top since you split up, then came down for the rest. Just. Don't Do. Basement. If they go basement, you have targets to focus fire/four points to cap while the enemy is trapped and unable to shoot anything in their hidey-hole Your team is dealing with the potential late-game ruiners (who indeed, won the match) instead of giving them exposed targets to harass and break up your team. That's what you did wrong.

That's a good build for nova cat, but i take all speed tweak nodes and lot of armor nodes. Playing pretty good with 69 km/h.My personal score achieve is 3 solo kills and 6 kmdd with 1300 damage...

How is the alpha strike barely doing any heat? When I do it I get up to 60 heat and all my heat containment skills are unlocked...

Are you sure that the bunny ears are not hitboxes? When i played with the archer during it's release i got constantly shot and damaged by unseen mechs behind my cover and blamed it to those ears. Sure, the cockpit is quite low but is it that low to get hit even behind decent cover way above my horizon?

Is there something up with Machine guns right now? Like, I barely hit yellow CT and I pop with barely gettig hit for a second with machine gun fire from a light mech.

Machine guns have a higher ROF and thus have a higher chance to Crit. Also because the MGs have a 9X multiplier to crit hit damage they can end up as high as 2.7 Damage PER BULLET. In a god roll situation, all Bullets in a 1 second period crit, your talking about taking 27 internal damage per second. Thats enough to take down even a Atlas in about 2-3 seconds.

i like it but stilll.... pulse Timber is kinda better.... the speed timber has just puts him like a level above, or atleast half level above the novacat, and it has jump jets

Boris Kljaic the Timberwolf does have 4 more engine heat sinks, so it makes up for the space lost to ferro I guess :3

And the additional speed that comes from the engine size. Normally on IS side Im not that big on worrying about speed, but when your running Clan and the XLs dont insta pop I expect a very very high engine for the size. Only going 64 in a 70 tonner Omni is kind of slow. Considering the E Jag is only 5 tons lighter but goes 81 and the Timber thats 5 tons heavier also goes 81.

I don't understand why people get offended by NASCAR. There are a very limited group of tactics and NASCAR happens because it works. I guess it's just something to complain about.

Jordan Hubbard The problem is speed. The slower mechs like assaults are left behind. If you NASCAR you have to stay in ONE group waiting for slow people or the guys that get lost to catch up. I've gotten stuck and everyone else keeps going

As already said: the usual nascar will stretch out your mech line and leaves it to pure chance, which team has the most mechs lacking behind. It's not really a tactic, people use with thought brought into it. At this point it's just a habit, they follow. Barely any chance they'll stop, to let the rest of the team catch up. And to hope they'll turn around to help the slow assaults against the light swarm.... Sure, it happens. But most of the time, it's just pure chance. That being said, it's only what I see when I play (I usually play heavies/ assaults between 50 to 70 kp/h. I suck with light mechs ^.-). And the "offended" point: your team is willing to sacrifice you (they don't even realise it), to maybe get the sacrifices of of the other team. So your game can be ended in 2-4 minutes. And you can't really do a thing against it (other than trying to keep up with your team). After that, they will blame you, for not sticking to the team... That's what I don't like with nascar. It's a valid tactic, if used as such (including every player, not sacrificing some). It's just a (bad?) habit, in every other situation.

Me too. It sucks when you are tail-end charlie, but I think it is just one of the risks when we take really slow assaults. I hate it when it happens to me, but at the same time, my side is picking off the other side's slow mechs, hopefully! :)

Some maps really lend themselves to NASCAR. I freaking HATE Polar Highlands. If it is a static match where both sides establish firing lines and wait for a decisive push, it's all about the LRMs. I'd rather NASCAR on Polar Highlands than wait to get lurmed to death over and over. And if you are a smart assault you can at least anticipate the maneuver and get into a smarter position before it starts. But yeah, it ultimately, as always in MWO, comes down to teamwork. If the team will support one another you have a really good chance. If the team won't...you are screwed.

Me neither. Rotation happens because frontal assault is straight suicide; walk into a fire line as an assault and you're done. So are the next 3 to 4 people that follow you while the rest of a weak push follows up. Frontal push only ever works if the entire line goes together, and even then its a toss up... mech to mech or whoever focus fires better; its hard to freakin do in a pug. If the front of the line is suicide, you look to stragglers and flanks for weakness and opportunity, especially as a fast mech. As lights start to wrap around the flanks looking for opportunities, and impatient folks in faster mechs follow and jockey for position and shots. Assaults start feeling nervous and start following as best they can while the enemy does the same thing. There's nascar for you... or just freakin rotation or jockeying for superior position if you choose to go left instead of right (yay for habit). Rotation is the natural answer to a solid front line, it shows that the enemy team is coherent enough to put a strong front towards the enemy and demands that we find weakness elsewhere. Left, right, or center push... those are the options... and as a light pilot I'll take the flanks any day of the week as opposed to a double gauss waiting for me to try the center. To stop rotation... I suppose that means that the fast mechs need to flank while the rest of the team sticks to like... an eight mech line or so. Again, requires cohesion, so hard to do in a pug. Embrace the rotation, it isn't going anywhere in pug play guys... that's the game.
