Thanks Filipe. It was fun owning and building the way I always wanted it to be. That was my third Puma and probably my last. I am not sure if I can ever build another one as nice.

I had a 77 puma gts convertible, really cool car to drive, 4 speed stick and no ac, just cool breeze...engine was an 1.6 vw air cooled. The engine also in the rear and the gas tank was located in front of the car.

Start at the forums at pumagte.com. I would also look on eBay, bringatrailer.com, and thesamba.com. Brazil has their own version of eBay and you can find loads of them there.

Did you import the car or find it in the US? Any help with finding a reputable company to deal with would be appreciated.

kstoff2218 I found the car from a guy in California. The import process may be tricky, but I would contact a professional logistics company to handle that. Now finding one down in Brazil and not getting swindled may take some time on the ground. Unless you have very trusted contacts. it may be easier to just find one in the US

First of all, congratulations.And second: this unit was originally exported as a brand new car, or you just bring from Brazil as a used car?

Paulo A it was imported to the USA as a complete new car minus the engine and transaxle. Once here in the States, it was originally fitted with a type 1 engine/transaxle which are easily sourced. I ended up replacing the type 1 with a Type IV and converted the transaxle to a 5-speed

Brian, I replaced the original motor with a 2270 Type IV mated to a 5-speed transaxle. The stock motor was around 90 horsepower and the new one is about 180 horsepower.
