Sadly animal rights activists lack intelligence. They have "freed" many animals over the last 60 or so years, sadly a lot never made it in the wild, it was an alien environment for them, and they didn't know how to fend for themselves. And then there were the other type that did know, like the mink for instance, who are not native of Britain, but they were set free on the British countryside. They devastated it, the death toll of the unsuspecting native animals and birds was horrendous, in simple terms, the mink wiped out many animal and bird species in the surrounding areas, 100 deaths for every mink released, is a vast understatement. But they all think they know what they're doing and talking about, I guess moronic deluded feelings gives them expert knowledge.

The zoo had caused health problems in this beautiful cat. Rickets and cystitis are due to poor nutrition so they didn't care properly for him. Sasha and Masha saved his life and Messi returns his gratitude and love.

This big boy is living his best life. Much better than he would have in a zoo, and definitely much better than he would have had in the wild. He deserves a chance at life, and his life is blessed. He wouldn't have made it on his own in the wild, and the zoo can't give him undivided attention because they have so many other animals to care for too. I agree, normally having a cougar as a pet is not a recommended idea, but in this particular case I do believe Messi is far better off now then he would have been if he was let in a zoo that probably would not have had a budget to cover all his extra care. So good on you for keeping him healthy, and sharing him with everyone for near and far.

Lone Browncoat - I’m not sure if it is a planned English translation channel or not. I got really excited when this video popped up in my recommendations because I thought that may be the case. I was going to subscribe until I saw that this is the one and only video on the entire channel which was publish on Oct 28, 2019 and in the about tab it says they joined Oct 24, 2019, so there’s been plenty of time to add more videos. So it made me question if it was even a real channel put out by Sasha and Masha, especially since they’re really good at doing subtitles on their new videos or having a translation pinned at the top of their older ones. I know it truly is none of my business, but when I saw Linda’s comment “You take better care of him than anyone else ever would. You are awesome,” I thought that Sasha and Masha may not even see her compliment, if this is a fake channel. And I also wanted to let her know that if this is the only video she’s seen that there are so many more videos she can enjoy. Given what’s going on the USA and world these days I find comfort and joy and catch myself smiling watching Messi videos and just wanted to share the love. I am soooo jealous. What an absolute joy it must be to be able to have such a cat and the way you care for him is beyond beautiful. I grew up in the mountains, and have seen wild mountain lions many times and all have filled me with such awe. They are, by far, my favorite wild beast. Yes, Messi's growth was stunted from the beginning, he's much smaller than he should. His muscles were atrophied, he has all kinds of health problems, but daddy Sasha is always on the ball when it comes to Messi's medical needs, ALWAYS. You can see in the videos that Messi is portable, weighs about 100 lbs. or less. Sasha is capable of carrying him in his arms, and he sometimes does. They have a father and son relationship. Sasha is kind as is his wife Masha and her cheetah, Gerda. They certainly have the blessing of many many people. 🤗🤗🤗🤗

Im honestly more scared of messing with a house cat. Ive been messed up by one before. I get along with my friend's 38 lbs caracal and her 33lbs serval just fine tho and never have problems with them. They r much harder to take care of properly than a house cat tho by far. Its a constant job for her.

One can see this cat was loved from the start, handled by humans since birth and has bonded. Whoever says cats don't know what love it, has never had a cat, and this cat shows it. That is one lucky feline.

Cats are all very individual. We've had quite a few, and every one was different. Our black cat, Lucky, was the best. He was highly intelligent and very loving. It broke all our hearts when he developed rapidly-growing oral cancer that invaded his jaw at age 19 and had to be put to sleep. He had seen many other pets go before him, and appeared to know it was his time, because for the first time he relaxed at the vet's, and merely laid his head on my arm, looking up at me until he was gone.

Stick a pin in the eye of anyone who says Messi should be released to the wild. Messis is better than a lot of dogs I have seen and much better than any domesticated cat! His world revolves around Sasha and Masha and he would never do anything to hurt them, either physically, emotionally, or socially. Normally I would never suggest having a wild animal as a pet, but Messi is NOT a pet, he is a family member and he is treated as such. So thank you for what you have done.

Messi has severe medical problems and Sasha and Masha have to care for him full time. He has to take medications several times a day and has had multiple surgeries. Messi wouldn’t survive in the wild, he would be ostracized from other cougars and wild cats.....and never find a mate. So Messi will stay with his humans so he can live, be cared for and loved. That really is the only option other than death.

I am so greatful for SashMash! The are wonderful parents and saving Messi. Messi is a blessing and amazing. He has overcome so much.
