A little weak. I think I have that brand..Home Depot also? Made in China. I saw those but I needed the next level the 800 gph and even that was only 3/4 the flow of my old dead Mag 9.5 pump. At least with HD,you pay $6 more and get a six ( 4?) year warranty. It burns out,I take it out go to HD 10 minutes away and get a spanking new pump. I'm sure it will happen at least three times! Hobby pumps longevity sucks.

I was just thinking the other day will fill 5gal buckets that I could use a more powerful pump, I've had this for 3 years and it is still working, but not the fastest at filling buckets or my Reef Tank reservoir - What do yo recommend? Thank you for the comment.

@@StevesRealWorld I have a Little Giant mag drive that's about 15-20 years old. BUT!, It's only been used to pump water out of my then numerous aquariums. I think I paid about $100 in 1990's money. It's very powerful at 2,000 gallons per hour and right now with only one aquarium a 240 gallon,not needed since it would empty the tank before I ever finished cleaning algae and all the rest. But Little Giant brand has always been one of the best. I just saw a LG, 1,900 gph for $150 and the guy says its small.powerful and 12 year no problems. I'm not sure how powerful you need,but even a LG half that price and pumping gph would be better than some off brand.

Thank you for your review.. So I did the math, as I am also looking for a pump. Compared to a Rio 1700 also at 642 GPH at amazon for $45.91. This runs at 31 Watts about $40 a year to run. The HF is about $32... I included the 20% disc. However, it runs at 72 Wats..about$90 a year to run. I have had my Rio for 20 years now. I used it about 5 years non stop on my sump aquarium and stored it for 15 years. I works as strongly as the day I bought it. Just information I wanted to take time to share with you. Yeah, savings is negligible, if you are using to pump fill water, but considerable if using consistently.

It's March 2018 and my pump is still working just fine! Thank you for your comment.

My only question would be why have to order another hose? Can nobody just cut the 44ft extra off with a kitchen knife? That's what I've always done with my corrugated hose, vinyl hose can't be more difficult to cut through than that. Lol

Can you run this pump 24 hours a day? I would like to install an aerator pump for a 275 Gallon tank

Is there anyway to mod it for an intake tube or does it have to be submersed?

Head lift what does that mean? I’m looking to get something like this for my duck pond in my chicken coop it’s 150gal. Will this work
@StevesRealWorld
@StevesRealWorld 4 жыл бұрын
Maybe, depends on how much flow you want. I would try it and return if it you are not happy.

Head lift means how high the pump will push the water- like 5’ head is roughly 5’ above the pump. The GPH numbers might seem a lot , but if it is head numbers is low, then go bigger

The Problem I had with this brand is that it's difficult to find propeller replacements or filters. T_T

So far I've had this for 3 years with no repairs, I am not sure they even make this one any more, I saw it recently at Harbor Freight though.

Just bought one today. Has a rattle to it. Wondering if will quiet down once it gets a slime on it. Going to use it for pond.

Did you fix it? Mine never had a rattle, I would take apart and try to fix or exchange it for a new one. Good luck

@@StevesRealWorld I've had it running for about a week in a bucket to see if it would build a slime coat and maybe buffer it a little. Hasn't, so it will be going back for an exchange.

So I returned it and the new one is far quieter. Was able to hear other one through exterior wall running in a bucket outside humming away. Don't hear this one until I go outside and stand near it. If I weren't so cheap my little pond would be going already.

What would you say the flow rate was at the amount of lift you were doing? I'm looking to use this in a sump for a 75gal tank

So what's the advantage of pumping the water into your tank if you could just buy RO water and pour it in there?
@StevesRealWorld
@StevesRealWorld 7 жыл бұрын
What? I make my own RO water, it's so much cheaper! If you make 20+ gallons at a time, you need to store it in something large. You could just scoop out with a bucket, BUT I guess I'm getting old and love this pump method.
