Don't do what I did and not put new fuel line grommets on. New pump went a year and failed. Headed to make a wrench. Thanks for taking the time to make this.

Several people have tried to demonstrate this process, but everyone is not clear one way or the other. For newbies with IDI's trying like hell to learn this, we don't know exactly where you are putting your wrenches and how far to turn them. You guys mean well but some of us don't know much more than when you started. I see your diesel pulse adapter is hooked up....but where do you go from there? Maybe I'm asking the wrong question. would love to calibrate my tach as well.

hi, I had viewed ur vid for a little insight on how to perform this somewhat major repair. I did heeded ur info and insight, but idk u may call it luck or what ever I used a short 9/16 open box wrench produced by allied worked but even better yet 1ce was loosened worked by fingers. the other thing was the bottem line was the 1st 1 installed to snug loosen the lift point and swing out of the way. to work call this luck or what. I didn't get to finish due to daylight 2mmorow will tell. wish me luck.

I have a 1997 6.5 TD. I just replaced, gas tank, all three fuel lines, injection pump fuel filters. I drove it for one week and it shut off again like it is not getting any fuel, Help!!!! I had metal in the lines that's why everything was replaced

ya I was wondering the same thing, I just bought a 7.3idi factory turbo engine for my none factory turbo 91, and theres a plug on the right side of the injection pump that's not on my old 91 so will the factoy turbo injection pump work on a none factory turbo 7.3idi same question in reverse

As the fuel system wears out the timing changes. Or if you replace injectors or the pump.

Thanks for the video. My 1994 7.3 idi turbo has one strange injector under the fuel filter. It has an extension between the top of injector and where fuel line nut screws on. Is this extension normal/standard?

what happens if the pump timing is not correct. My truck had miss is more noticeable in the third gear. i have stick shift truck. What can cause that miss? Also when i start the truck i hear the glow plugs clicking. &.3 idi turbo that clicking noises when the key turn in the on position is normal? when the clicking noise is stop i try start the engine. Is hard to start some today i have cycle two times. i notice under the hood is coming smoke. One leak in fuel filter is fixed by mechanic. What else can cause that smoke under the hood. When the engine is start that smoke is stop

My truck when i turn the key i hear the glow plug realy do clicking noises. When the engine is cold is do many clickings when the engine is warm is do less clicking the relay. That is normal in that trucks? I take my truck in mechanic is fix the diesel leak. I have tell to him check my truck what more is need i tell i have buy used. But the mechanic no tell me i need glow plugs thank you for you tell me that. Also i have notice when i shift gears when i press the gas is do the engine like miss sounds like tractor. Today i look under my truck and i found in the rear axle one brake hose the end is be in the top of the rear axle is connect but the other end is not connecect anywere and have one piece wood in the end. Do you know where is connect that hose. The person have the truck looks have mess up thinks.The exhaust is looks have replace is have one pipe no see mufler and is coming out after the passenger door. Before i be in storage i rent. In the gate on the way to the road is short hill but is steep. My truck is stick shift is go uphill with the first gear whiout i press the gas i have load 5 bicycles

how to adjust fuel metering for each line separately; do I have to disassemble the whole pump for that? and, is it possible with the pump to have different angles of injecting fuel into cylinder prechamber among fuel supply lines?

88 7.3 IDI N/A Pulled onto highway, got it up to about 30mph and it stalled out. It fired back up, i pulled over and it hasn't ran since. Mechanics blew out the starter, so has a new starter. Then they told me the injection pump was bad. I put a new pump on, have no leaks in lines, but the bitch won't start without ether; then it runs good at an idle, but as soon as i shift into drive it has no power at all-can't even make it up my street. What is going on? Any suggestions would be great! Thanks

i have a 94 idi turbo same problem but mine started after i did head gaskets so i am trying to debug it. i got it to start. Then i thought my rocker arms were too loose so i tightened those and then i put a push rod through a rocker arm. I replaced everything that got messed up. The motor didnt blow luckily. but she hasnt wanted to start since then. I am thinking i blew up my glow plug relay or my timing is off.

What is the size of your custom tool? You mentioned it was possible to do the job with an open-ended 9/16" wrench, but you didn't explicitly say that was the size your tool. Could you put in the description what size is your tool, or add a pop-up in the video at the beginning?

Hey I have an 88 7.3 IDI was running fine I was in the woods came home parked it didn't plug it in the next day I tried to start it and quickly realized the starter was burnt out put a new starter in it and now it won't start I ran through the whole thing put new glow plug relay in cuz that was bad and new ignition but now its not getting fuel the fuel is getting all the way up to the water fuel separator and it gets to the fuel injector pump but does not pump into the injector do you know what this could be? No one seems to know why its not pumping through the injector pump everyone I ask does not know why this is my first diesel and don't know much about them? So please let me know what you think I should do........

on top of the injectiion pump there are two wires make sure they are plugged in and the wires arnt broke. to check to make sure your getting power pull the plug off and back on your should hear the fuel shut off solenoid click on and off if you dont hear it click on and off thenthe fuel shut off solenoid is bad if you out a new one on and still wont fire then your injection pump probably failed

Which direction is advancing and which way is retard?

Advance towards the Passenger side, Retard towards the drivers side. Easy to remember, the driver is retarded...LOL Do not turn the Injection Pump with the engine running. Tighten the 3 bolts first.
