An interesting documentary movie but very little about a real Eurodance music. As we know, this real Eurodance was created in 1992 and ended with the end of 1996. So the only Eurodance songs in this movie are Dr Alban - It's My Life, DJ Bobo - Somebody Dance With Me and Clulture Beat - Mr Vain. Snap! - I've Got The Power is a House music and their first song Eurodance was Rhythm is A Dancer. Scooter had nothing to do with Eurodance. They mainly made Happy Hardcore, Rave, Hard Dance and commercial Trance which can be called Eurotrance. I'm a little disappointed because there should be more interviews with other Eurodance producers like 2 Brothers on The 4th Floor, Fun Factory, E-Rotic, Masterboy, Ice Mc or Mr President but I realize that there would have to be several such movies.

@@hinsen technically a House song, but accidentally has same bassline like first Eurodance songs, has rapping verses and from the beginning intended to be as chart friendly as possible. What other hit track pushed first Eurodance producers to make music in this specific style?
@hinsen2 жыл бұрын
Yes, this track is in the style of House but it contributed to the later rise of Eurodance. A breakthrough year was 1992 and I am talking mainly about the development of sound synthesis. Music producers at that time began experimenting with the detuned sawtooth wave that was used in all Eurodance songs. Of course, we cannot forget about the famous "Lately Bass", which also started to be used in Eurodance. This development later contributed to the development by Roland's engineers of the Super Saw wave for the Roland JP-8000 synthesizer, which in turn contributed to the development of Trance music. The first songs I call Eurodance were Snap - Rhytm is A Dancer, DJ Bobo - Somebody Dance With Me, Captain Hollywood Project - More and More and Haddaway - What Is Love. These are one of the first tracks where you can hear a detuned sawtooth wave.

nice documentary. But Masterboy and Ace of Base are missing here. Ace of base and masterboy both are 100x more typical eurodance bands than scooter. Instead of DJ Westbam who was obviously not a representant of eurodance at all, they should have interviewed Tommy Schleh. The part when he played the typical eurodance song is a joke because snap I got the power is not a typical eurodance song, it was before that time and it didn't have the melody.You could have asked 100 other bands maybe for example aqua - barbie girl. That was also a big eurodance track. Or "what is love". Or there are 100s others. Therefore it would have made much more sense to interview the guy from masterboy because he made real eurodance music and I think he composed them with the other guy in his band themselves. So it's a big difference if somebody else produces the music and you just sing or if compose the song really by yourself. So therefore the title is actually wrong. DJ Bobo yes he was a eurodance hero but scooter not, he said it himself he was something between. Nevertheless it's an interesting documentary about scooter. And also the part with this guy Nosie Katzman is interesting, didn't know he was behind all those bands, very interesting...after all DJ Bobo describes eurodance the best, in my opinion he clearly describes and understands the power of eurodance music. I wonder how much of his most famous songs in the very beginning he himself was composing or how much was done by producers. Because that's what made him world famous.
@hijack32 жыл бұрын
I agree. This documentary is made out of "parts" that were available. Probably it would be hard to collect all these names after 20+ years have passed. I'd also see pure eurodance producers speaking, like Captain Hollywood, the Bass Bumpers production team, or Ruud van Rijen. Nevertheless I still think the documentary gives interesting insight into the past dance scene.

Wow, this is so wrong. Eurodance.... 40% from all REAL Eurodance did came from The Netherlands, also lots from Italia, UK, and also many from Scandinavia. Here in this documentary only DJ Bobo, Dr Alban and Culture Beat is Eurodance. Scooter (was fan that time) wasn't Eurodance, Scooter did go straight to the Hardcore. And Westbam ofcourse was one of the pionears (for German dance). SNAP, yup early Eurodance (like Twenty 4 Seven with Captain Hollywood (also in this Docu) as rapper (many years later came Captain Hollywood Project, that was Eurodance to) 2 unlimited, 2 brothers on the 4th floor, etc. that was early Eurodance). Germany apparently has a very different definition of Eurodance. If you did/do buy cd's/vinyl with Eurodance then there was/is no Scooter or Westbam on it. Can go on for a long time but i think, not needed. And the titel "Pump up the Jam" as nothing to do with this documentary.
@hijack3 Жыл бұрын
hello, thanks for your comment. I am the author of this upload and an eurodance promoter on the Internet. I can only agree with you 100% - I also regret ARTE did not treat this genre sophistically, using stereotypes instead of available knowledge. Germany was one of the biggest hubs of Eurodance, not genuine, but also repacked productions, imported from European countries. Netherlands, Germany, Italy and France were the biggest players and all defining the genre back then, with so many artists, missing in this documentary, I can't even begin with. So on the one hand, we have to understand this could no way fit a 1h documentary, rather could start a long, multipart series. ARTE had to cut corners here very hard. On the other hand, elevating offsprings like SCOOTER (which by no means produced pure eurodance, rather happy hardcore/rave flavor) or Westbam (German techno producer) and mixing with projects like Snap and DJ Bobo without clear distinction, only puts the unaware viewers into an erratic thinking. That's why I'd be very interested into redoing this documentary from the ground. Meanwhile, I guess we have to live with shallow interpretations of "eurodance" by the mainstream, until someone finds the means to do it better.
@ftc-nl1041 Жыл бұрын
@@hijack3 Hi, Yes, that's right, if you want to make a documentary about Eurodance you can easily make a video that fills a week. Maybe we can make a list of all (as we know) Eurodance artists, producers, then i think you will come very far. But most important i think is what is exactly Eurodance/what makes eurodance Eurodance. Some are easy but in the comments i see some here they say Eurodance started at 1992 what is totally wrong. I see everybody is giving Eurodance a different definition, i think most is easily recognizable as Eurodance but the "twilight zone" is very large and different per country and person, like (example) Hardcore (i am from The Netherlands) Hardcore here in The Netherlands was very different then the Hardcore (i did/still like) from the U.K. with the breakbeats or like Techno, The German Techno was very different then the people here (Netherlands) say it was Techno. So i think it is very difficult to make a border for what is Eurodance exactly. BTW, nice you are subscribed to "Dutchy" Paul Nielsen (shame he doesn't post anymore) and very nice to see you are subscribed to many very good Catholic channels👍. Many Regards.
