I noticed my new MTB would max out back shock quite easy, so after seeing a similar vid checked all the pressures etc, turns out the shop hadn't equalized the shock. After doing what was in the vid and doing my sag to the specs for the shock it sat exactly where the specs said it should.
@th_js5 жыл бұрын
Great video, you actually went into detail. I had a problem that my shock sucked itself to about 80% of the travel and I couldn't get it to come back in the travel. This happened because of riding in -30°C. I pumped it to about 200 psi and it was still stuck, so I had to deflate the shock and remove the air can. The can just rocketed out and hit my frame (just cosmetic damage) and then there was a big air coming out sound and some oil flew out. I then cleaned the whole inside and put new SRAM Butter in and now it seems to work.

BBN HIPHOP hey man thanks a lot. I recoon the rear of the slash would be killer with a SuperDeluxe. But the ultimate would be an Ohlins ttx22 coil with either a sprindex coil to fine tune the exact right spring rate, or maybe a progressive coil spring to keep it fast and efficient. The Slash is rad man 👌🏽✌🏼

When you reattach the pump and it shows say 5-10 psi less, are you sure this isn’t simply because the shock is now losing that air pressure back into the hose of your pump? Ie after inflating to your 180, if you then checked the pressure with a gauge that doesn’t have a hose you may see a reading closer to what you actually put in. Perhaps try this ....? The perceived loss when reattaching a hose pump/gauge is likely a factor of the air volume of the shock relative to the air volume of the hose. Hence less change with the fork reading. If you did this with say a car tire the perceived change would be basically nothing due to such large air volume.
@mtbtelly55224 жыл бұрын
Brendon Monk yeah thats exactly what its doing, you’re taking air from the shock to fill the hose and register the guage. I could’ve definitely described it better cheers ✌🏼

@@davidbrito9529 may have damaged the pump valve. The shock should be ok. If you screw it on until it registers a pressure reading on the pump, then give it a quarter of a turn, it should be ready to pump up freely, sometimes when it gets a reading its still not quite fully engaged so it makes pumping really hard and your guage will give unusually high readings with every pump
