i didnt understand one thing. Can we use optical pumping for nanowire based lasers or semiconductor laser. I am asking because i only saw electrical pumping examples until now. And lastly if we can use optical pumping how it effects P-N junction in semiconductor laser?

What are the examples of optical and electrical pumping?
@EngineeringPhysicsbySanjiv3 жыл бұрын
In solid state lasers like Nd:YAG laser and Ruby laser, usually optical pumping is used. It means optical (light) energy is used to excite atoms from lower level to higher level. In gas lasers like He-Ne laser, we use electrical pumping where we use electrical current (energy of moving electrons) to excite the atoms from lower level to higher level.
