Using the straight edge ruler to push the knots up REALLY helps keep them straight

What are you using the ruler for throughout the process? It it to push up the knots so they stay straighter? Your alphas are so straight and I can never get mine as perfect

Pretty much, yeah! I don't do it for every row but every few rows I push up on the knots to keep them in line and also check that they're all straight and make ajustments when needed (usually with just my nails, pushing and pulling where I need them to be)

There are different kinds of pumpkins sold during autumn. Some are for carving and some are for baking. Pie pumpkins are smaller and have more flesh, and they're cultivated for pies, while carving pumpkins are larger, have fewer seeds, generally have a long stem and a flat side, and are cultivated to have fewer seeds. You use the flesh of a pumpkin, not the seeds, and the easiest way to break them down for cooking is to remove the seeds and cut them through the skin etc., and dice it up like any other squash. :) Carving pumpkins are not great for roasting into soup or pie, but their seeds are useful for pepitas! I love pumpkin pie. I've made them with canned pure pumpkin and fresh pumpkin, and there wasn't a noticeable difference... So I just use the canned stuff (not canned filling but pure pumpkin). It's supposed to be a somewhat eggy custard with a light spice, slight umami, and slight sweetness.

I struggle with looking at the picture not the pattern having said that I adjusted my picture to the picture but followed the pattern if that makes sense I find alphas harder than one two patterns. But alphas are easier to read.❤️❤️❤️

What I don’t understand is how your knots look so straight! I’m trying alpha for the first time and my knots are all so slanted. You can obviously tell which rows are forward knots and which are backward. It makes the design wonky and I’m not a fan

I think we're just looking at our own knots too closely haha! Because I can definitely tell on mine which way the row was going, the knots are slanted! Sorry I don't really have any advice for this but it does happen to everyone :)
