I'd love to see more of your spinning and fiber related videos! This video was very good!

The best video on the subject that I have watched so far. The display of professional equipment shows how involved you are in the craft.

Fantastic video! I'm an experienced spinner but I'm about to attempt spinning my Great Pyrenees's fur for the first time and it was good to hear some tips from someone who has done this before! Thanks!

Thanks for a very informative video! I have collected combed fur from my two spaniels and am wondering if it would be possible to spin it. Have you ever experimented with spaniel fur? It is very soft, slightly greasy but not very long

3 questions: 1) I have my golden retriever cocker spaniel mix shaved. This would include the outer coat so do you think it would not work well mixing it with wool? 2) I have a bag of ‘shed’ collected years ago that was not from a freshly shampooed dog. Do you think I could wash it first? (I’ve seen other videos where they wash the collected fur). 3) Have you ever added other fibers such as alpaca or rabbit?

That's so cool! I have a Keeshond medium breed with a thick undercoat and have always wondered if I could make yarn from his fur. This video is very helpful!

You totally could! This is my favorite method for getting a consistent and durable yarn, but you could probably spin that fur all by itself too! It just tends to behave differently when it's 100%. I really enjoy the characteristics that blending the yarn with wool gives. 100% fur is REALLY HOT too! It really traps heat if you make a hat or scarf. It behaves a bit like angora fur.

Thank you so much for such a thorough video! I was wondering if you have ever spun any poodle fur before?
@MandobugCrafts3 жыл бұрын
You're welcome! I haven't spun a standard poodle, but I did spin a labradoodle. The owner sent me shaved fur. It was dense and difficult to work with compared to the Alaskan Malamute I showed in this video. I blended it with wool just like in this video but I really had to be patient and put extra time and care into the blending process. Even then, it was tricky to get the spinning consistent and the final yarn tended to shed more since it had some very short hair included.
