"Another New World," originally by Josh Ritter, from Punch Brothers' EP Ahoy!, available at punchbrothers.com
July 25, 2018 - Five days on the heels of their fifth LP release, All Ashore, Punch Brothers perform live for the third time at House of Blues Boston (second time for Front Row Boston). Adorned with tiki cocktails and Hawaiian leis, the acoustic quintet delivered a set that encompassed both fan favorites as well as performing nearly the entire new album.

This performance deserves an award. The writer of the lyrics deserves an award, the composer of the song deserves an award... Wow. Just Wow.

I was taken to see Punch Brothers having not heard a single song. This was the third song they played and the crescendo at the end is still one of the most incredible moments of my life. I felt like I was going to be blown out of my seat. Such a wonderful memory.

First I knew the studio version of Josh Ritter. It was so complete I refused to go to Punch Brothers version. Today finally I listened to their cd version and wow, the mandolin and the banjo put something. Enough was enough. But… I arrived here by chance, and this astonishing performance filled the journey. Everything is so good. And on the top of the new world, that unbelievable piece of subtle beauty that the banjo solo is.

I mainly listen to the studio version, not the live one. But this really brings out everything! The banjo solo was amazing, Chris is a god, and everyone else just fills all the gaps and makes it perfect. On the studio version, the ending is much shorter, but I honestly liked it so long on this! The violin tremolo at the end sounds amazing! I literally got chills listening to it, amazing job Punch Brothers.

My friend thought it would be funny to play me this song the other week when I was on 3 hits of LSD to try to fuck with me, and spiral me into a bad trip (in good fun! We always mess with each other tripping to see if one of us can cause the other to lose their composure) and all he managed to do was ruin the rest of his own trip, because I spent the next 4 hours learning this song on every instrument I know how to play, the piano, bass, guitar, and the mandolin, and am now a lifelong Punch Brothers fan! (Yes I'm aware they didn't write this song, and are covering Josh's version) If you are a fan of psychedelics, and can reasonably deal with a song that has the potential to overwhelm you emotionally, do yourself a favor and listen to this song next time you're tripping... It's a life changing experience, not even exaggerating! Only do this if you have lots of experience with hallucinogens, otherwise you'll give yourself a panic attack trying to process the weight behind these lyrics... But for any psychonaut who can sit back and listen to this without their anxiety going crazy, do it right now, otherwise you are robbing yourself of one of the most profound experiences of your life. I'm well aware of the fact that this song is amazing sober, but you guys seriously have no idea how profound and powerful this song actually is until you've listened to it on a psychedelic. Holy shit, this performance will give me goosebumps until the day that I die

Don't despair. The sewage needs marketing and marketing needs the sewage. Thank god Punch Brothers don't need marketing. So they can roam free and bring back unheard gems to the world.
