A very nice if somewhat accidental checkmate. Thanks Will.

I love how you always talk various theories, do calculations and tactics on the board giving that impression as you are some kind of a pro and in the end just go "i had no idea what was going on" 😅

@@bghopperno you fvckin nimbus, maybe we study the caro-kann lines and try to build elo from that, especially because everyone plays e4. I have caro-kann for e4, and d5 for d4. And I’m 1000 bullet

After Qb6, there's a common trap that a lot of people fall for where you play a3 (hanging the b pawn). If they take, Na4 traps the queen. You'd be surprised how common people fall for it, especially if you recognise the pattern and play it instantly - they assume its a blunder
@ireallydontlikethecold788710 ай бұрын
I carried on watching the video and you spotted a cool idea, but playing a3 removes that as an escape square in the first place. Good game though :D

Isn't Caro-Kann supposed to be a good opening?
@gratitud14310 ай бұрын
Yes, but no one understands how to play the van der Wiel variation. Because they are used to positional, long struggles and not tactical skirmishes. WTC brilliantly forces the opponents to enter his realm. That's why I love this variation and the Tal variation against the Caro Kann. And part of the reason why I play 3. ...c5 in the Caro-Kann Advanced
@FenShen-us9tv10 ай бұрын
It is, but white has many good lines against you and if you don't know how to respond you can lose easily. That's why intermediate or advance players will just play e5 since it's simplier.
