Dr. Madan Handa examines Punjabi culture in this interview, mentioning the mindset of highly open-minded Punjabi people by joking on themselves, which portrays them as a joyful lot. He underlined the richness and diversity of Punjabi culture. He describes the custom of showing respect to the elderly and teachers. On the issue of passing on our culture to the younger generation living in foreign countries, he adds that we can pass on parts of our traditions but never expect them to adjust like we did who were reared and lived there and have now immigrated overseas.
Furthermore, he states that our younger generation born here is living in two cultures, one at home and one abroad. We may attempt, but they will adapt to where they spend more time and where they must spend their future. Forcibly administered culture might have an unpleasant impact. Our governments encourage people to embrace their culture and languages, which is commendable.
Dr. Madan Handa has passed away many years ago. God bless his soul.
