This is a minor issue, not a mandatory duty. I am 41 years old and have probably never eaten meat or beef. Even started eating chicken in 2006 for Nutrashons. Allah Allowed and now its depend on someone's like dislike, taste, etc. 2nd I do not believe that science can prove religion. Science would have turned into rejection, while Allah's order is final and it is obligatory to obey it.

Allah decided for us, if you start to study Islam you will be baffled how clear it is. All animals who eat from their mouth is halal’s Some animals throat touch their food with their feet is haram. Simple as that. For example all birds are halal. However crow touches its food with its feet, therefore haram .

If a four-legged animal has two nails (like a goat, deer, cow, buffalo, camel, etc), it is Halal if it is slaughtered the Islamic way and with the name ALLAH. if the same animal is slaughtered by a name other than god then it is not halal. Also, single nailed animals like horses, donkeys, etc are haram. Animals having Paws like cats, dogs, lions, etc are also haram and cannot be eaten. In the bird category, the slaughter process will be the same but it is usually distinguished by if a bird uses its paw to eat it is not halal (like crows, parrots, eagles, etc), but if it uses only its beak then it will be halal.
