K2 is indeed the second highest peak in the world and the highest peak in Korakoram range (As Everest is in Himalyan range). But, to summit K2 is difficult compared to Everest, I'm not a mountaineer and taking nothing away from Everest. But summiting Everest is a walk in the park compared to K2. One in five mountaineers who try to summit K2 lose their life so the fatality rate is really high (20%). But the mountain with the highest fatality rate is neither K2 nor the top 7 peaks but it's the 8th highest peak which also happens to be in Pakistan in Himalayan range which is "Nanga Parbat or The Naked Mountain) which is extremely steep and with the highest fatality rate.
