All mena does is take advantage of ridiculously strong characters. First Blanka, now Gief. It was like that with Birdie and Luke in SFV. When nerf comes in, we all know what happens. It's not forbidden to play strong characters, all pro players know how to play against them, but some characters carry their players. Take that dude who played Gief in Week one against Punk. That mf is a nobody and almost won against the EVO champ, because Gief. Mena revisits the tier list everytime his characters get nerfed.

Damn crazy how well Mena has picked up Gief, you can tell he still needs to learn a bit more of the MU specific punishes but his pressure, mindgames and footsies are all really amazing with gief. He really conditions the SPD very well and he rarely whiffs the SPD because of it, the only thing I think I can see Mena really needs to learn is jump cancel SPD and just playing gief more will help him learn when to use it.

Getting nervous and shaking is completely normal, don't make it sound like pro players are godlike creatures, they're just humans. Everyone gets their hands shaking when competing. Btw, trash talking, or even talking to yourself out loud, is a good way to relieve the stress.

as a Cammy player i can say i agree. Currently alot of ppl say Cammy is a bad matchup for Gief, but nah, its the other way around. Esp with Cammys fairly low damage and needing to spend meter plus how much drive guage dmg gief does. Honestly i almost agree with the ppl that say Gief is broken rn. Personally, im not sure that hes actually broken, but i would say he's def borderline broken. But its partially because of the SF6 mechanics and being able to build-a-combo with drive rush. Ok fine, Gief is a grappler and his SPDs and stuff do big damage, fine that is what it is, but since that is the case, he shouldnt also be as good in neutral or with combos as he is. And alot of his normals actually out-range Cammy's, and its 1 button push to keep her out of the air. I know these guys are pros so not like i can tell them how to play, and i know Punk is playing super careful and calculated and looking to punish, but if I was Punk, personally i would throw a few hooligans in there in this matchup. I feel like theres a few diff times he could have caught him off guard with a hooligan throw or something, and especially in that last game after he hadnt used it any up until that point and needed to make something happen.

yea he really is. I always knew he was good, and Mena is super good too, but i wasnt 100% sure that Punk was the very best, but honestly after really watching him alot in tons of diff matchups against diff ppl, if i had to choose just ONE single player to say was the best player in the world, i think Punk is him. There are so many good players and they are all close in skill level, Punk and Mena are neck and neck, but i honestly think theres just some natural gift that Punk has for this that almost no one else has. He doesnt have to put in the same amount of work as others to be at the same skill level and his reactions really are second to none. He can literally pick up a new character and be one of the best in the world with said character in a few days, thats not something trained or taught, thats something thats just in him that allows him to do that so easily, its wild. Also, if you play the same character he does, it allows you to see and appreciate what he does even more. As a person whos played a ton of Cammy and know her inside and out, it allows me to see just how insane he really is with her, where as ppl that dont know the character that well may not be able to truly tell just how good he is. Cammy is a good character and many ppl rate her highly, but shes a character thats truly hard to be successful with at a high level compared to other characters that are also considered top tier. Ppl say Cammy is S tier, but i dont agree with that....maybe shes S tier for Punk caliber players, but if you dont have great reactions, spacing, neutral in general, etc, your gonna have a hard time against the ACTUAL s tier characters. Where as its much easier to be successful with the likes of Akuma, Bison, Ken, etc.

@@Never83 It does have everything to do with humility. You can't manifest confidence..what are you saying?? arrogance/pride/falsified pride can cloud your thinking strategically. It makes it more about proving to others instead of strategically playing the game. He has arguably the best neutral in the game. Nobody whiff punishes like he does, and the game is controlled by the neutral mechanic. On a given day, anybody can be beat anybody. All those players you named are not nearly as consistent in their play as punk. You haven't seen more than half those players in a major competitive setting consistently in forever besides angry bird. Punk is always in the mix 90% of the time. The stats speak for themselves, and I'm not the biggest fan, but I do have to recognize good consistent play when I see it.
