I stopped playing a month in( I left because my gm told me even if I saved all my dkp I couldn't have sulfuras on my shaman.) My /played was 11 days 23 hours. I logged back in a week ago and my entire guild was dead as well as the faction balance of the server. I moved to grobbulus alliance and have refound my passion for this game. I'm so excited for zg so I'm actively leveling this warrior and having so much fun along the way. I just hope I don't feel that same dread of the last ten levels again.

I love this video so much! My little 20 person raiding guild [A] Pagle has been slowing/casually running dungeons, UBRS, and occasionally PUGs in MC, but our real joy will be when ZG opens. I play on a low population RP-PVP server. The community aspect is really nice and people are still levelling. There is a monthly newsletter and people have started to build up a server-wide reputation. There are player-hosted PVP tournaments with cash pool prizes, we do trash raids to get the crafting components in MC every tuesday, we have RP tavern nights that sometimes turn into BGs on Wednesdays, I've even had open-world RP which is awesome. I'd say I got lucky with this server because it sounds like other servers are filled with min/max culture and as someone that never played wow before, I feel like I'm playing the wow of 2005. With that said, our guild is super excited for ZG. We haven't started BWL yet but once we do some ZGs we might give it a shot.

As a Beta WoW player I was also only a young teen at the time. I got into PvP more then raiding. Now 2nd time around I can enjoy these raids that I rarely did. I do remember trying out MC for first time and taking 6+ hours cause nobody knew the mechanics yet. Pretty sure my dad still has a 10+ page print out someone made with mechanics people figured out.

While i do consider me and my guild made of absolute min maxers (we were among the first to clear BWL) i have to say: i kind of dislike how this is killing the part of the game that is focused OUTSIDE of raiding...something that, surprisingly, didnt happen on private servers. What i mean is this: on Northdale, from the start of the server up to the end of it, you were able to roll a level 1 character and you'd be 100% sure that, within a reasonable time, you d find people to quest and do dungeons with. Today, instead, new levellers are struggling veeeery much...i play on one of the most populated servers (Herod) and even there, its almost impossible to find a group for RFC/WC/BFD that is not just a carry run sold for gold..which is a good option for people that just want to level quickly, but for new comers/people without gold and/or people that want to learn a new class/role they dont know...its definitely not ideal(i was trying to learn tanking for the first time after years of healing/dps, but at this point i almost gave up on) As said in this video: you can go in places like Orgrimmar/Kargath/Eastern plaguelands and you ll see hundreads of players at any time...instead, if you try to go in front of Wailing caverns, you are likely not to see anyone there..a far cry from most of the private servers i ve played on, which is ridicolous. I am loving classic, to an extreme level, but i think that 50% of that love is thanks to my guild which has an extremely core comunity (we have been together for 1 year now, after forming on Northdale private server..we were just a rag tag of fresh level 50/60s in green gear, and here we are now, 1 year later still together

Excellent video! You hit the nail on the head. There is definitely some burnout happening and my guild on Incendius while is in top 5 for BWL speed clear for server is having a hard time filling all 40 spots. People are just not wanting to login as much. We have 2 raid groups and could not even get enough to do an MC last night. Same with getting 25 for Ony. 20 man raid would make this so much better and greatly help gearing everyone as well as Alts. As a druid I have been 8/8 T2 for 2 weeks but I feel bad for all those warriors, rogues, mages and priests who have so much competition. There were some WTFs going on when I got last piece and I felt somewhat guilty (somewhat lol). Definitely looking forward to ZG plus the Swift zulian tiger is my favorite mount of all time. Never could get it in retail and I am obsessed with acquiring it for classic.

It’s 2-14-23 and I’m loving Classic WoW. As many of us knew would happen, all of the TBC/WotLK/SoM players have come back, and Classic is as vibrant a community as ever. To me, leveling to 60 is great fun, and no trek to level cap is ever the same; I never tire of it. But… once you hit 60, a whole lot more fun awaits you if you’re willing to give it a shot. One of my favorite things to do at 60 is collecting complete armor sets for each of my characters, whether it’s dungeon sets (1 or 2) or raid sets. Getting a BIS weapon, trinket, ring, and necklace is also loads of fun. Two of my characters have finally started running AQ40, and someday I may even make it into Naxx… but guess what? There’s no hurry now! I don’t have to worry about an expansion suddenly making all of my gear obsolete overnight. (I despised that system when Blizz released new games as “expansions” instead of as separate releases as they should have.) I can progress my characters as quickly or slowly as I like. Even if you never raid, it’s fun. One of my toons has a full dungeon 2 armor set and full pre-raid BIS weapons, rings, etc. and enchants. Then, there are professions and reputations to work on. I might even roll another alt….. 🤓

I am lvling a twink atm. And i see alot more ppl in open world compared to beeing ahead of the curve at launch. While there are loads of lvling boosts around right now. many of the players i know are now enjoying questing instead of lvling as fast as possible or grinding dungeons as was the meta on launch. Even low lvl worldpvp is much more prevelent just because ppl dont run by each other trying to be the fastest to hit lvl 60.

Scheduled raids are actually easier for casuals like me, because I can make plans around them. If I had to PuG raids at all I'm pretty sure I wouldn't. I have ~12 hours per week to play and logs are still the most fun part of the game. They aren't stressful at all, they're just fun on top of the fun everyone's already having in Discord.

As someone who use to be a min/maxer 2005-2008 I can tell you that in Classic a casual can arguably have more fun than a min/maxer. Playing casually I have not experienced any of the problems a min/max player had to endure.

Hey Punkrat! Nice video man, feels good to know that i can finally chill in a raid and dont have a "big brother watching me" feeling as you described. one thing i want to get of my chest - you play quite a role in this minmaxing scenarios. The way you analyse the game is on a really detailed level, and when you went into market discussions, loot tables and all that stuff, you automatically open up a way for minmaxing. i myself think that the way the fightclubc discord theorycrafts p.e. is over the top - just the amount of items in the game compared to the depth of the analyses seems contradictory to me (why minmax theory over an item if you only have 2-3 items for a certain slot anyways. trial and error is as fast as the theory at that point) - as well as the availability of most items (raiding 6 months mc every id with DKP and yet have only seen 2 talisman [mage main]). but nonetheless - you are doing a great job, i like your videos! p.s. we were all so wrong about market speculation in the beginning - i am stil sitting on 100+ fused wirings that just wont sell XD

I don’t get the push for making the game more casual friendly. Why are we even playing this game if we wanted a more casual experience? Even if you argue what pushed people away from Retail isn’t how casual it became, you can see how it becoming so casual facilitated everything else that pushed people away from the game, or that Classic not being as casual is what draws/keeps people to/on it. Like I get the huge QoL things like not needing world buffs in TBC, but I don’t get the people who want to hand out free boosts to max or make the core gameplay easier. The game is fun the way it is, and the whole world doesn’t need to agree with that statement, just enough people to keep it alive.

Kharazan wasn't the best raid every because of it being a ten man! It's just an AMAZING raid. From the chess game to the theatre piece to the legendary staff there's just nothing else like that. I still have more fun running it with one friend on retail than I do on many other raids classic or retail (the latter of which I don't play anymore).

There’s 15 NA West servers and 20 NA east servers, I’m pretty sure Whitemane is the NA streamer server, there’s also an EU streamer server though I can’t see those in my client because I’m NA. After Covid19 though these’ll be the only decently full servers, I hope Blizzard merges some of the other servers eventually...

I think people will still push for parses in ZG. At this point it's part of the culture even when the guild isn't stacking all consumes/buffs. When the raids aren't all that difficult, it gives people a challenge. I like that guildies are trying to improve every week as long as they are following mechanics.

I view myself as a casual gamer and the only piece that makes the game SUPER DIFFICULT to stay casual is all of the power leveling. Stocks, SM, MARA, Etc. It is extremely difficult to find a real group of people to actually run the dungeon. People would rather pay money to get power runs, which pretty much eliminates dungeon gear as part of your build unless you can get the power leveler to kill the bosses.

Oooh but there is competitiveness in ZG if you do Hakkar with all aspects alive :) Maybe not speed running, but there is "hard" mode none the less :) Also KZ was best because it was completely different then other raids, including the raid mechanics (chess event is the best example, but all of them are unique)...

Agreed. I quit playing because of mix/maxers. Was told I cant raid with many groups because I was shadow priest. I wouldnt be doing "elite" dps, but did plenty enough to warrant being brought in. Meanwhile literally every raid out currently could be cleared with a raid full of rets lol

@chefaopt I don't think he means boosting the way you think he does, I think he means boosting ranked PvP rather than boosting your level by hiring a mage to farm XP for you. I don't think the boosting you're talking about needs a fix, if people have gold to afford boosting then they've already been through the leveling process so who cares if they boost up another class (esp. a warrior or healer!!!)?

ok so im in two minds about this... on one hand I like sub 1 hour BWL clears. but on the other hand... that comes with high parses and having everything logged. If you want a half decent guild, they are going to be logging. if you don't care about logs, expect almost a 3 hour BWL clear time

If you are the better player, you can win against players that have better gear. Or your goal could be to reach or almost reach their dps, if the difference is too high. Warcraftlogs has a score specifically for your item level as well, that could motivate too

My first 60 I got in a well functioning raid group and I find myself close to the point of raid logging. I don't have time to grind BGs, I don't need anything from dungeons and I don't make enough gold to be able to respec and do farms (I heal in raids and its harf to farm as heal spec). I enjoy raids, but it happens so infrequently its not as fun as when I was leveling. Looking forward to ZG for the variety, frequency and accessibility.

Some of us actually enjoy being comptetive and are actually having fun during raids aswell. In our guild we tried doing more relaxed/consumes free runs and people were much less focused which led to more deaths/wipes and others simply didnt have time to sit at the pc for 3 hours straight doing bosses that have been cleared 10 times already. Doing speedclears or going for parses is so much more fun you care much less about the loot but instead you look at your performance and stuff you can improve on.

Classic is too grindy. Its like a job. I have 50 days played on my paladin. My goals are almost all reached finally! T1 8-8 / T2 5-8 (3 peices left) Hand of ragnaros - 30 arcane crystals left Exalted all bgs.. wsg rev, ab honoured left. What a GRIND
