The later 80's and early 90's is when the bands that were influenced by punk or that were still around from early on got weak, sold out, or just plain turned into pop. Rancid was never a punk band. The posers took over in the 90's. There was still great hc punk that doesnt even get mentioned in this that was happening at the same time greed day was sucking ass.

I don't agree. They're all punk bands. Some of them don't play punk anymore. But they all started as punk bands. Just cuz you get famous doesn't mean you aren't punk. For me personally, it's not an ideological thing. It's a style (or collection of styles?) of rock n roll that grew out of an american rock movement in the mid 70s. Just music. Nothing more nothing less.

Armstrong he just wants to be a good songwriter, but I don't get The Offspring. Its like after the 2000 everything became shitty. Not just punk, but hip hop, rap too. i dont know man, sounds like you're bitter...thanks to those bands so many people were able go back and discover minor threat, descendents, bad brains, misfits, clash, and all the classics. Fat Wreck Chords and Epitaph made fucking amazing music in the 90's, nothing wrong with singing about girls dude...descendents did it the best though. Green days first records are great. Any smart fan of music will do the research and will know who the good bands are.punks still very alive my friend,
