i was a punk rocker in manchester in the 70's,and in all the clubs reggae was played,it was our chill down music,my favourite club was the ranch bar dale st small dark in a basement this song and exodus and about 200 punks slowly reggae dancing to this,and sorry for rambling,high as a kite here,

Dis Dis trak...”PUNKY REGGAE PARTY”is my all time favorite of de incomparable BOB MARLEY and have been privileged to sit in Harry J Studio next to prolific Engineer Sylvan Morris “ Morris” to watch and listen to Bob record....his first 4 albums there Long live Robert Nesta Marley in and with his MUZIK 🇯🇲🎶❤️

The image at 0:33 is Don Letts, who worked with the Clash. It was used by the clash on the album ‘black market clash’ and the reissued ‘super black market clash’

The backing band wasn't the Wailers. Marley Wiki says: Lineup: Bob Marley, lead vocals, rhythm guitar Richard Daley, bass Angus "Drummie Zeb" Gaye, drums Michael "Ibo" Cooper, keyboards Stephen "Cat" Coore, lead guitar Aura Lewis, backing vocals Candy McKenzie, backing vocals Just saying to give them the credit they deserve.

I read in an interview with Boris Gardiner that Marley didn't like the original drum and bass session recordings of this track and asked Perry to "fix it". Perry then called on Gardiner himself and Sly Dunbar who re-recorded bass and drums respectively.

U got it RIGHT This was when Ska/ Bob had left JA. after the shooting up at 56. The WAILERS was not in England THEN. Scratch was always SKA/ Bob's guru.SKA/ Bob loved SCRATCH ROOTS VIBE. I always saw this when he was at the BLACK ARK.

@@juniordamatah this is also true as Boris played a lot of bass as 1 of the original UPSETTERS. BORIS was a tough bass PLAYER I knew him from he had his group THE RYTHEM ACES and I had the JAMAICANS SINGING GROUP

Yes. Even if the 12'' wich picture is featured on the vid mentions «bob marley & wailers» the backing musicians were from Thirld World (?) -According to wikipedia- and its a fact members of Aswad for sure...read somewhere the Meditations made some of the backings too.

I have read on the midnight ravers article that Sly Dunbar was the drummer for this song and the drums were recorded at Joe Gibbs recording studios in Jamaica.

Sly Dunbar on drums, Val Douglas on bass, done at Joe Gibbs Studio, then all other tracks were re-done on top of this bass-and-drum for this final product, after Scratch had "tried" with Aswad, Third World, and Boris Gardner.
