It's the long awaited second part of The Wakko's Punt or No Punt! I originally planned for this to come out a lot earlier, but a few things came up and it wasn't possible. It's definitely worth the wait as these hands are as good as it gets for this series! Very much looking forward to the reactions in the comments...

Very entertaining format, and Wakko is very creative in his plays, so probably one of the best guests you could have here :D. I gotta say I was somewhat unsure about why you two were agreeing (in the last hand) that Villain's play on the river with KK was bad, given that the SPR at that point is so low that he doesn't need to worry about boats and KK is more than enough to be a value hand. Checking the solver I found out indeed that the KK's that gets there (almost exclusively the diamond/spade combo) should theoretically always jam on the river, as we have to call with many worse hands (77, A5s, and even some Ahighs) and he blocks so many of our folds (KQs through KTs). Some exploitative considerations can be made, surely, but apparently, in theory, that is a thing. Great job anyway, this punt or no punt series is so enjoyable.

1st hand : Going to go with punt. I can't put myself in the shoes of the punter, but I have a bunch of experience with this kind of hand in opponent's shoes, even have a tag for people who raise merged stuff like that. When someone raises way too much on a board where his range is weak, you answer it by 3betting a lot, both thin value and bluffs. I don't see why he wouldn't have draws in his 3bet range, he definitely should against someone who raises small pairs. Also when your opponent raises a merged range you definitely want to 3bet all your value and not call, since if you just call oop you leave him the option to check behind his marginal stuff on the turn. So it's not surprising to run into a set. 2nd hand : Not a punt, but if you turn the middle of your range into a bluff you could be overbluffing, giving opponent an easy call down with any pair. 3rd hand : I like Wakko, but he's getting a purple tag for this one. The point of a bluffcatcher is to actually beat bluffs, not get value bluffed by QJss or something. I think deep down he's aware that he's lighting EV on fire just for the off chance that he could be right and look like a poker god...but this is exactly how a purple player thinks.
@daverogers4195
@daverogers4195 2 жыл бұрын
Well this is one purple tag that crushes at the highest stake not to mention the quality of some of his students, i wouldnt wanna sit on table full of this kind of purple tag, plus this was 3 years ago and like he said he also included future ev into his thought process, imagine after this hand is talked about on forums and the like, poker players spread the word very quick .Now he gets the tag, DO NOT BLUFF THIS LUNATIC ( MAYBE HENCE 'WAKKO' ) that 50 ish bigs is nothing compared to how many OOP show down wins with marginal hands that can not check call rivers but now he wins them, risking 50 bigs which also wins 230 ish bigs at least 10 percent of time so if u add that into the mix he is only risking 27 bigs for all that future EV gain. Would that be fair to say?
@eastyyy22
@eastyyy22 2 жыл бұрын
I agree with hand 1, honestly I was surprised to see the set at the time because I was expecting some weird level war but you make good points! Purple tag for hand 3 is controversial hahaha but yeah I was headed down the same path of potentially we lose to bluffs so why not just call with our A highs that bricked. However I will say that The Wakko is clearly an excellent player, this hand was 3 years ago and we all get a bit crazy on occasion!

Enjoyed this video a lot. Hope you do more content with him. Would've liked to see how the flop being 3-way in the first hand changes strategies. It wasn't mentioned at all. The PFR can't cbet as much and we need to be more careful calling and raising as well, even if the PFR is playing this board like a HU pot.

In a comment down below a guy ( "FefeLeVrai") was saying that he would tag the wakko as a purple tag ( in his opinion someone who lights money and Ev on fire) He goes on to say that the idea of a bluff catcher is that you beat bluffs. Well i think that with WAKKO knowing this players tendencies well, he knows that 22, 33, 44 ,57s 47s, 45s many combos are in villains range so if villain is bluffing 20 percent of time here which wouldnt be out of the question given that on this texture there very few value combos that 3 bet the SB, then these low pair and low suited connectors take up fair amount of the bluff combos given that villain hardly ever bluffs Ax and maybe even some KQ high type holdings or flush draws which again takes a load more bluff combos from their range. Then also says WAKKO thinks like a purple tag, please give me a moment to ROFLMAO coz this is one purple tag that crushes at the highest stakes, i wouldnt wanna sit on table full of this kind of purple tag and his students, plus this was 3 years ago and like he said he also included future ev into his thought process, imagine after this hand is talked about on forums and the like, poker players spread the word very quick .Now he gets the tag, DO NOT BLUFF THIS LUNATIC ( MAYBE HENCE 'WAKKO' ) or FefeLeVrai's purple tag - that 50 ish bigs is nothing compared to how many OOP show down wins with marginal hands that can not check call rivers but now he wins them, risking 50 bigs which also wins 230 ish bigs at least 10 percent of time so if u add that into the mix he is only risking 27 bigs for all that future EV gain. Would that be fair to say? Would love to know your thoughts Nick, also others thoughts please reply, positive or negetive would appreciate, i am here to learn, i think i have written to you before few times and you always reply, you may recall i apologised for not being able to sub as i have no bank account, havent done years was sick of constant bank charges but does make things difficult tbh, but love the continous content have watched most of it, always click LIKE (anyone who had the patience to read this and have a bank account LOL) please like LIKE AND SUB, lets get this guy a huge channel he truly is a nice bloke who as i recall even left his job so really qdeserves recognition for his efforts, dedication and quality of content) obv even before i watch one, anyway sorry for the long comment everyone i thought it warranted it, everyone have a great weekend and may your christmases be white and your variance be merry! That 88s hand I got no words for really, like some next level levelling shit going on here. I would think 88s just plays nicely as a call here, I kind of get what he is doing to try to deny equity if he thinks we'll see a lot of overcards with the suited backdoors with 2 overcards type hands in his range, then when he gets raised we're probably just in a part of the game tree I am too unfamiliar with, you do these sorts of raises you have to have some confidence in defence, and I'd guess 88s would be one hand which is just about acceptable to float Flop and continue OTT - with stack depth OTT we're kind of pot committed a hand like 88s can be a sort of mergey bluff equity vs his value range and puts his bluff range in a tough spot cos they're all going to be priced in, this is probably okay but issue I have is we have no idea how Teuness contructs his range, I got no clue, I know that this line specifically by the pool is very underbluffed. I would think KK wants to just call, so maybe we're looking at AK, 76, 66, 77, AA, K6, K7 type hands for value? Semi bluff range I have no idea. Maybe suited BDF/BDS or like 65. Sort of hand that's pretty far down the game tree really, not my cup of tea (I just prefer to call) but damn, insane hand. (Punt) That hand took so much out of me, I got to come back later for the other 2. Amazing.

I dont understand none of his moves in any of 3 hands. The 1st one , the guy 4bet the k high flop utg oop and we block his best draw (89). Why do we continue;; 2nd hand we 3bet the flop representing kks aas and a7 suited. After villain calls the turn, why should we jam the river; is he calling turn to fold any river;;. The last hand is the worst. 3bet oop we call flop a massive draw but when we get 3bet on turn is nt it clear that we are behind even against his ace or k high flush draws;. I dont want to be mean but playing in high stakes does not mean that everything you do is reasonable.(sorry for my english)
