Greetings from Portugal! Swimming is something we would like to explore this year somewhere in the river , we tried to swim with Arny only in the swimming pool since in the ocean wave are too intensive

Hi Maria, thanks for sharing your experience. I'm researching this breed. I want to know if these dogs are extreme barkers? Do they shed a lot; do you find their hair everywhere?

Hi Ricardo! It depends on the character but in general they do not bark just because, only when there is a danger or dog things that it is a danger. My adult dog is very quiet and it is rarely happens when he barks, while the puppy is quiet loud when he is interested in some animals or people. With shedding, we do grooming and trimming once per 3-2 months and brushing once per week and almost no hair on the floor.

Thanks Maria for your help! How many times a day do you need to take your dog out, and how intense are those walks? Are they too energetic? @@my.giant.schnauzers

Walks: 2 walks 40m-1h mornings and evenings. Sometimes we play with balls after 10-15 min. Plus, with a puppy (till 7-8 months) we need to go out every 3 hours (he pees quite often this age). Training: we also started going to the dog classes 1-3 times a week for one hour. Long walks on weekends: this is something what really improved our overall existence. We usually spend 3-4 hours with dogs outside during weekends (not every time ofcrs) and they release so much energy! I would like to mention that when my first dog was a puppy he needed much more attention and time to play, walk (release energy) because he was really strong and active. He was jumping on us and went crazy without enough energy released. I was not experienced enough with that breed that time and did a lot of mistakes. With second dog it is much easier, because they always together and adult dog shows him how to behave and plays with the pup a lot so I do not need spend as much time as I did with the first dog.
