Puppy Reunion with Siblings Four Years After Adoption

Samo was adopted from the Animal Haven Shelter in Soho by my boyfriend (now husband) and I four years ago. On March 6, 2016 we organized a reunion with her and her siblings. She hadn't seen them since we adopted her at 8 weeks old.
We were able to contact half of the pack who made it to the reunion at Happy Paws in NYC, where we shared stories about similarities, likes and dislikes, their health history and their taste in food (they're all foodies). Some love sticks, some love swimming, other's hate it. And they've all eaten something they shouldn't have at some point (paint, muffins, raw bacon, nuts, fortune cookies)! I really do believe the dogs knew they were family.
At the shelter the dogs were called "The Adams Family" litter so they all had names from The Adams Family. Samo's name was originally Pubert. We were able to meet Hunter (formerly Uncle Fester), PJ (formerly The Thing) and Oreo (formerly Gomez).
I made this video to share her story and spread awareness for adoption! Every day is better with Samo in it!

Thanks for sharing this event. You look (as well as the other owners) like wonderful pet parents and this was a pick me up for my heart. I have volunteered for several shelters and this was nice to see. Occasionally you see a brother/sister dog or cat adopted together because they are just too closely bonded to be separated.....I hope other people pick up on this and it becomes a trend. There would be many obstacles as far as sharing adopters information, how did you guys get it all together? I hope to get a response from you and god bless.

I dont think the dogs recognized eachother as being siblings. Also I love how negative people are in saying the owners who didnt show up to the reunion were awful people. These are dogs guys, not sure if they hold any residual feelings about their littermates as they probably remember absolutely nothing from that timeframe. Us as humans hold more of a sentimental feeling about things like this. Pretty sure the dogs are fairly indifferent to it all. They just think theyre getting treats, toys and to play with some other dogs.

They just recognized them as other dogs and not family, dogs don't even remember who their parents are much less siblings. These are just other new dogs they just met to them, and they're happy that they're getting treats and toys and getting to play not that they're getting to see their siblings! Lol.

Maybe they don't realize they're their littermates, but they might remember them nonetheless as dogs they do know from before. For instance, my dog clearly recognized the girl who was my girlfriend when I adopted her 5 years ago when she was 2 months old. She hadn't seen her for about three years after we broke up and she moved away, but she clearly remembered her very well and immediately ran to her when we bumped into each other at a park recently while my ex apparently was in town.

ya guys have no experience about dogs memory of smell.. I only met my cousins dog once and its a very aggressive dog wont let any unknown person even get near the house front yard.. but when i visited his place again after 3 years It jumped all over me in excitement.. it did growl at distance but as soon as it sniffed me it knew who i was.. Its amazing how they can keep memory of smell..

Dogs have very poor memories, those dogs didn't even realize they were litter-mates. They didn't act much like it as adults. And they played a tiny bit with each other, but most "friendly" dogs will play well with others.

Comparing this to videos where dogs are reunited with owners after several years, the dogs being reunited with their owners go nuts and clearly shows recognition. Just not seeing it here. What was wrong with what he said? I agree that a field or park would've been a bit better in this case. They look like they're in a jail cell. They could've brought the dogs somewhere outdoors, where they actually had room to run and play the way you're supposed to give them room to, and these people would at least be enjoying some fresh air instead of sitting in hard plastic chairs in a little room with a cold hard floor and metal gates, watching a group of dogs walk in circles sniffing each other's assholes.
