I just bought a few cases of Pur jars. I canned 8 pints of ground beef. 2 of the jars never sealed. Being the first time I have ever pressure canned, I can’t say it was faulty lids, because I could not get my pressure regulated correctly. I needed to can @11 lbs, but it took over an hour to get it down from 17 lbs! I just hope the meat will be ok to use. Although there was no evidence of siphoning in the water, 3 of the good jars went down below the meat level. I don’t understand it. Tbh, I am afraid to depend on this first batch of meat I canned.

I really like the look of the jars but don’t really need any at this point. One can never have too many lids. From my research looks like the price is comparable to ball products in my area of upstate SC .will definitely be visiting my ACE hardware store . Lids are still hit or miss here .

I won't be purchasing these because they are made in China. Do what you must, but for me and my family if we have a choice between USA made and China, we choose USA. 🇺🇸

That's fine, to each is his own. I don't have a problem with using them. More than half of your dishes, cookware, drinkware, utensils, household, aluminum cans and packaging you purchase your food in, is made in China. No difference. 😊

@@Jeni_Gough I agree, so much of our products come from China, but if I have a choice (such as my Fiestware collection which is made in West Virginia) I will always choose USA. It's just disappointing that at this time with everything going on in the world that a respected vlogger would actively promote and receive compensation from China made products. It is very disappointing.

Where are the jars and lids made? I checked the Pur website and all they have in their FAQ is "Our headquarters is located in Broomfield, CO. We package and distribute out of Broomfield, CO. We have a second shipping facility located in Ontario, CA." When companies answer like this, it makes me feel like they don't want to say where they're making their products. Certainly one of their frequently asked questions has been where their products are made. Even their photography was done so as to not show the part of the box that SHOULD state, "Proudly made in America".

I had the same thing with Kerr and also had 9 Kerr lid failures from 1 box!

I had the same experience with new Ball quarts this year. Flats dented, rings and jars completely fine. You *know* that came from the factory that way. I want to know if Pur has solved the rust problem. I used hundreds of Pur lids this year and my sealing rate was great but I’m seeing lots of chatter about rust so I’m nervous. Time will tell, I guess but I will absolutely lose it if I have to dump hundreds of jars because the lids rusted!

@@MotJ949 I also have hundreds of jars canned with Pur lids, some of them going back to 9 months. I haven’t seen rust nor have I heard that from someone., are you sure they weren’t talking about the bands?? All bands rust, I move them to the craft department when they do! 😂

I dont have a problem with the Pur lids. They work great. I just freaked out when I had the spots on the inside, but I was informed it was normal. So far all my Pur lids have sealed perfectly.

My problem with Pur lids and jars is they are made in China. China still uses lead in their glass wares or so I have read when researching the Pur jars and lids. If anyone can show me different I would love to know.

i have pressure canned with the Pur jars and lids that I got at Ace. Can't find lids so I just buy new jars with lids. Price is good. I haven't had any issues with the Pur jars or lids but they say you need to wait 6mths to year to see how they last. I havent seen any Pur lids at Ace yet. I go to one in my town and the next town over quite often looking for lids. In Target yesterday and they had Kerr lids..about fainted! I grabbed a few boxes. So the lids you have in your store are they the new redesigned ones?

Thanks for doing the research! I've heard they can sometimes buckle while pressure canning, but I only water-bath. Have only heard good things about water-bathing with them.

They only buckle when you tighten the bands too much just like Ball and Kerr. 😊

Hmmm... my Ball lids have buttons most of the time. I actually did my own side-by-side comparison this weekend after my sister picked up some Pur jars at Ace. She and my other sister are new to canning, so we were going through all kinds of different jars and equipment and discussing the pro's and cons. It seemed to me that the Pur lids were kinda lightweight. Also, the Ball buttons were larger and easier to see ~ nickel-ish size versus the Pur dime-ish size. Overall, I like to be fair, so I will have to pick up another batch of Pur jars and make sure they include the "Next Gen" lids. We may have had the earlier version. Thanks for posting this! 😊

I am with you, I have used Pur lids and jars this year with 100% sealing rate and had two lids by Ball and Ker come unsealed all were in the same canning project. I am really hoping Pur is here to stay and is a better alternative for canning supply shortages

Since they`ve improved them, I`ll give them another try for canning. But I have been using them with my Foodsaver & am very happy with the tight seal I`ve gotten with every one. Even the regular mouth size, that so many of us have had problems getting to seal using the Foodsaver, has sealed just fine for me. Thanks for the update!

Try menards on line. We were able to order both wide and narrow Ball lids and had them in a week or less shipped right to our house for $7 shipping.

Thank you for update. I got some lids at Ace hardware. I've recently noticed brand new ball lids having some defects and had some fail to seal. I was in NH over weekend, went to Runnings they had Kilner jars and lids, didn't buy any because they were a bit pricey.

I just bought 2 dozen wide mouth pints, the lids are all white, the sealing compound is WHITE? These are not my first Pur jars and lids the others where the normal color. Using them tomorrow…maybe.
