Man…you are too good.. I don’t think we the lesser mortals can ever hope to master the meend…in a way that you demonstrated…looking forward to a simple video on meend, on a step by step basis…after all simplicity is the ultimate sophistication, as Steve Jobs once said/

Hello Poorbaayan , I'm fan of you. I always attend your concerts in Pune & do watch your videos on U tube. I'm (50yrs old) a sitarist of Maihar Gharana, am very happy to notice that you add new things, keeping intact the discipline of Maihar Tradition.😊👍👌💐

This is a great lesson for learners at any level. In the true spirit of a masterclass, Mr.Chatterjee gives an outstanding demo of vocalising the notes to make pleasant melodic phrases. Thank you very much for this. And for the lessons to come.

Pranaam Purbayanji, could you kindly confirm if the raag that was played towards the end (the ghazal) is Kaushik Dhwani or was it Bhinna shadaj? If none of these, kindly let us know the raag please. Was really blissful and insightful.🙏

Thanks a lot for this Purbayan Ji! This is exactly what I was looking for! Looking forward to many more videos like this 😁 Also i think the audio recorder level is going a bit too high making that crackling sound. If the gain was lower on the recorder it would sound awesome! Thanks again!

If someone starts playing sitar will his fingers get cut by the strings?
@vikingsailorboy3 жыл бұрын
Its extremely painful to play sitar. Until your fingers deeply callus, your fingers will be nearly ripped. But beginners likely wont cut themselves because they will stop playing when the finger pain is too unbearable and wait it out. An advanced player like this guy’s fingers are probably so callused that he wont cut his fingers either.

I find too much meend becomes a kind on neurosis. Used appropriately is is beautiful but overused it is sickly and just a technique display.
