After meeting with hundreds of journalism students on campus, Washington Post columnist and political commentator George Will sits down with Purdue President Mitch Daniels to discuss the role of journalism and government in a modern society. He answers questions from Daniels and the audience on journalism, government and culture - and how each of those affect one another.

I used to read William F. Buckley Jr. all the time. I enjoyed the writing and the wit and the knowledge, but in the end he was merciless to the human condition. You say he regretted those debates with Gore Vidal. Perhaps the one where Buckley lost it and told Vidal to “ shut your mouth or I’ll sock you one , you queer”… that one, I guess.

Wow! A true Political Scientist. Can't you be above a newspaper, though? F. Scott Fitzgerald never read a newspaper. You couldn't pick up a newspaper a month later and reread it. But you could with a novel, or non-fiction, for that matter. Always listen to George Will!

@@jimmartin181 Why would anyone tolerate Trump. He’s not a conservative. He has no ideals, no moral compass: he’s a narcissist only thinking of himself, not the country. He’s a cheat, a liar, a philanderer and a sociopath. He represents everything vile and yet he’s supported by many. The conservatives of old despise this perverse “conservatism”. Because it’s not conservatism at all: it’s doomed to hell.

Our founding was glorious, but things need to change. I don’t believe in autocratic Presidents. I also oppose Feudal Lords, Oligarchs. I oppose 1 to 5 persons in the world governing all our goods, services and activities. Madisonian concepts don’t work anymore.
