It's probably been said before, but they don't sing in German, Danish or Norwegian. This is Proto Norse, the language that was spoken in Scandinavia (Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and I guess further south in Germany as well) during the European Bronze age. It has roots in Sanskrit, seeing that the eariest Europeans migrated out of India and South East Asia, the appropriately named "Indo-Europeans". Old Norse later developed into Old Norse, the language the Vikings spoke, hundreds of years later. So don't be surprised you don't understand anything at all, or has ever heard this language. I'm Swedish, and I can only pick up a word every so often that sounds remotely the same as words we use today. For instance the word "hijalp" mean "help", "ok" resembles and sounds like "och" ( means "and")... that will give you an idea of the huge gaps. As for the video, I'm pretty sure the child is a girl. I think her mother dies in child birth - the shot of the hut ceiling that looks like a tunnel and her soul rising into it, crossing over into the realm of the afterlife. But the girl survives, because she is no normal child. She was born with deer antlers, a child of nature. She explores her world be looking, smelling, tasting, and touching. She holds a dead bird, and brings it back to life. She is also unafraid of wild beasts, as she challenges the moose the way they do by pointing her antlers at it. Then she challenges the musk-ox. We don't know who won. Lastly, I nearly fell off my chair laughing so hard at your facial expression when they cut the video right before the impact. Priceless! xD

A belief in ages past was that a child born under an eclipse was special and a Guardian of Nature. It was also believed they were shapeshifts & could change their age. You may note at the birth scene the baby already has antler nubs which grow with her. She is in harmony with nature and at the end joins with the ox

Don’t be so annoyed because you don’t understand what you just saw. What you just saw was a birth, adolescence and young adult hood of a shamaness coming into her full power which is represented by her finally merging with the bison , raw nature. She is now in her full power , thus her name Anoana, which means protector of the people and the land.

The "scary white people of the woods" as I've heard the culture explained before lol. I mean..... they certainly aren't wrong, y'know? I'd say they personally remind me most of the Norse that practice seidr and the Druidic Gaels (Fir Bolg era) and Welsh (mainly Myrddin/Merlin).

For me as ukrainian this song kindna like my country folk songs , i feel the similar sensations (many of our peoples and of kings of past times are from scandinavian region)but they are some different, ukrainian - unruly in good way , loves nature and decribes wreck , power to rise up . scandinavian - lives in harmony , feels themselves part of nature , noble , do that they supposed to do. ( Sorry for mistakes that i was make ) We will win this war. A lot of thanks to all countries that helps us the most: Poland , Lithuania , Latvia , Estonia ,Finland , G. Hi: The lyrics for this piece are mainly taken from bracteates: golden, circular coins or amulets found in Northern Europe that date from the 4th to 7th centuries CE. They are often fitted with a decorated rim and loop, which indicates that they were meant to be worn and perhaps provide protection, fulfil wishes or for divination. The bracteates feature a very significant iconography influenced by Roman coinage. They were predominantly made from Roman gold, which was given to the North Germanic peoples as peace money. In Anoana, the listener has the chance to delve into a collection of likely encoded spells from the Migration Period and get a touch of magic from the Dark Ages. The intention of the piece is to playfully reconnect to an incantational language of a period where the North was richer in gold than any other region. Our forefathers presumably enjoyed a time of great prosperity and it may make us rethink how dark these ages real Above the sign on the womb of the giving birth mother is probably a painted version of Ægirs Hjelm/Aegishjalmur/Ægishjálmr ("Ægir's Helmet"), which is a symbol described in the Poetic Edda as a symbol of ultimate protection, physical, mental and spiritual referred to as protection against all kinds of fear "Ægir/Ægi" means "Sea" in both dialects of Old Norse and is also the name of the personification of the sea. I will nevber give up on tellign peopel thaty i wrote this sentence. I know zouve been copy/pasting infos ever since the start. * Its not german! The language is proto-norse and was spoken in norway,sweden and denmakr. However, old east norse spread further abrtoad than old west norse. (Icelandic) Someoen in hte 17th century just decidec to make icelandic the scandinvian latin. They didnt even use the "d" (th) letter until the 17th century as a for of revitilasation. Its a common missconception that icelandic is the oldest of ALL scandinvaian lagnuages. Enbglish has traces of east norse, not west norse.

This has become one of my new favorites from Heilung. Their music resonates within, on a deep spiritual and primal level. IF you have not tried it already, listen with a good set of head phones. when Kai Uwe begins his chanting, it feels as if his whispered words resonate around you from one ear to the other, adding to the ethereal nature OF Maria's haunting vocals. The music is captivating. You talk about the drums and the base, to me they once again it's as if they resonate, you more then hear them you feel them, like feeling the heart beat of the earth itself. Makes me wish I was born in a different time and place, where magic and mystery are possible and the world was a far more spiritual place and we were much more connected with the earth and all living things.

In the end we all have the same tribal roots. We're all tribal, that's our nature, no matter if we're europeans, asians, american natives, africans, australian aborigines or polynesian.Long before religion, and colonization and all that, we believed in the spitits of the nature and shamanism. It's kinda universal, that's why we all can feel this kind of music. The earliest europeans most likely had much darker skin than we have today, but in the end it doesn't matter.

Very good reaction. the clothes, tattos, the instruments are all nodic in nature or viking they make it all themselves the language is ancient nordic words taken from ancient coins the story can be seen in the video and everyones interpation of it is thier own they dont give a clear answer of what it is meant to be for that reason so what the listener or watcher feels from it is right for them the band name means cure the music is meant to be calming and healing.The child in this is a girl and her path of life from baby to young girl to young woman. you should check out some more of thier stuff on youtube the live shows are best soyou can see what they do and see the instruments.you might want to get some headphones it will give you a completely different experience even with this song if you listen to it again in headphones.

The lyrics are Proto-Norse, the ancient language spoken around that area before the modern-day German, Danish and Norwegian languages existed. All the lyrics come from bracteates, ancient golden amulets with Proto-Norse inscribed on them. The gold was gifted by the Romans as peace money to avoid war. We don't actually know what the Bracteates were for, but many people believe they provided protection to the wearer. No one actually knows what the Proto-Norse words mean as the language was never documented. Heilung just used the words on the bracteates as inspiration for a song that sounds good, but the song is probably gibberish if a person from the pre-viking era were to hear this. It's not meant for people to understand the lyrics to keep the sound mysterious and magical. The song's story as I understand it, in the beginning you see that a child is born during an eclipse. According to pre-viking beliefs, children born during an eclipse had special powers (hamnskifte), the ability to transform into animals, and heal nature. You then see the child growing up in nature, becoming a protector of the land, and even resurrecting a dead bird. Fast forward some years, she's an adult, and facing off against a bison for reasons not explained.

Please dont call the proto-norse or norse germans.n We had enough issues with that during ww2, when german nazis wanted to glorify germanic ancestry and use our history as their own. Its he reason why sweden is dying today. We cant have any pride or love for our history at all, because nazi germany loved us.
