Pure vs Applied Math Major

Most math majors in the US have to choose between Real Analysis or Abstract algebra. Some school require Real Analysis though. Still other schools have combined complex and Real Analysis into 1 class somehow.

I myself majored in math and am now self employed working on my own websites. However, it is important to keep the cards on the table as much as possible. Also, certain majors are better for self employment than others ie Comp Sci is pretty good for startups and making SaaS businesses, but Math by itself without any self-learning, not so much. Unless, you mean you are going for graduate school after? In that case, be aware that math graduate placements are competitive and it is still good to keep options open. Thanks.
